Trust... a belief many have for strangers in disguise who plot to destroy people's lives...
" Run! Run Violet!" Tulip giggled as I fled from our oldest brother, Fern. As soon as he ran out of breath I scooped Tulip into my arms, " Did I do well, Tulip?" I asked my little sister, "Vi Vi do good run," she complimented, " Ferny was bad boy!" Which was a bad time to make that remark because Fern's eyes narrowed at Tulip and she screamed as there was a violent look in his eyes. I took off along the street still holding Tulip tightly against my chest to keep her from falling. " Yay!" Tulip cried, " This is fun!" Fern being the intelligent of the three stopped and glared at us as we flew around a corner, he knew I could easily outrun him no matter the circumstances and Tulip always stuck to my side, no matter what.
It had been hard lately, leading up to my 16th birthday and all since it was a Herbina tradition for all girls to have a life lasting soul mate by the time they're 16. So for the last few weeks I have been keeping my eye out for any trustworthy and loving boys who could be my soul mate. It was only a few days before our chase that I had stumbled across Clover, one of Fern's classmates which meant he was a year older than me. I picture him in my mind every day, dark green hair, alert green eyes and that amazing tattoo of green wings to resemble our camp being more than a bunch of toys for the District to play with and command, which in a way we aren't because the District keep us in place and regularly let us know they're in charge by taking one of the people from a camp to the District and returning them completely brainwashed for judging them.
So I had been dreaming about Clover- I was meeting him at the Callamare- when Fern walked in on me drawing a picture of him- I am an awesome drawer if I do say so myself! He had suddenly gone into a rage about me dating Clover but I glanced at him with my blue eyes and he calmed down. That is until he learned about Clover's secret...
The next morning we all gathered in the Square of Camp Topaz to welcome the Heroes of Herbina home and to wait for the chosen damsels to marry each of the Heroes and this event was great for many singles such as myself who were approaching their 16th birthday. Well at least I had been looking forward to it until I found Clover.
