I fell. Faster and faster towards the ground, when I thought of a place. The landscape changed to become more to my liking and my advantage. I change to a light stop on the ground, and looked around.
Exactly how I had imagined it.
Nice.
I turned and saw my sister furious, and dang did she look scary.
I looked around and said,"Welcome to my land of wonders." I knew it sounded really cheesy, but it was all I could think up at the moment.
I smiled and turned around.
It was my world of dragons.
I stood in our playroom smiling at my toys. These were not dolls nor some pretty little toy rabbits, these were dragons. They ranged in size, color, iridescence, sleekness, shine, length, and other varying factors. I smiled at my sister as she played with her dolls. She smiled back. Meanwhile, I was sitting down playing with my dragons.
"It's funny how this was the first pitiful thought that came to your mind," she spat out the words like venom.
I looked at the world, "It's funny how you remember something that happened so long ago." We were surrounded by a meadow. One dragon, whose blue hide sparkled in the sun, sat, watching as the others flew by. Suddenly, another blue, slightly bigger, sat to join her and nuzzled her, beckoning her towards the sky.
We both watched the scene, the sound of leathery dragon wings flapping and loud roars mixed with the small chortles and chirps all you could hear.
The dragons took off, leaving us to be the only ones on the ground.
My sister voice came from behind me, "So you want a battle of the minds? Well, let me give a taste of true intellect."
A shape rose from the ground. It was a substance close to pitch, but darker. I rose and started to elongate, the black fluid dripping off into the ground, where it impacted with a hiss.
It grew a head, glowing embers for eyes, and an open mouth dripping with black, bubbling, saliva. It grew legs on its elongated body, four tar-like legs on a long body. At the end of the legs were paws that developed into talons. Razor sharp, silver talons.
It was huge.
The creature smiled. It hissed, a bubbly, snake-like sound. It's eyes blinked, and it looked back at its master with its glowing eyes.
"Now isn't he handsome?"
My sister nuzzled his head, which was the size of her body. She petted it, then I received her old psychotic look. A smile tugged at her lips.
I felt like the mouse being played with as the cat waits for the kill.
She laughed, and just softly enough for me to hear, hissed, "Fetch."
The creature reared up, and ran forward on its short legs. Its tail flailed behind it and its eyes glowed as its mouth opened in a smile.
I froze, staring into its eyes. My sister laughing. I could see my dragons staring from the corners of my eyes. The hope clear in their eyes.
By now I could see every strand of saliva hanging from the creature's mouth. Everything played in slow motion. I could see the silver claws kicking up golden grass and bits of dirt and rocks. Its body moved like a crocodile, swerving back and forth.
Without my mind fully processing this information, I made a lunge to the side and pictured a weapon of my own.
"Mommy, Daddy, look at this!" I squealed, smiling. In my small hands was a medieval toy sword.
