Catherine's POV
I got up the next morning and got dressed. It was a Thursday morning. I walked out the door and opened my car door.
*buzzz*
My phone buzzed, I got a text.
"Don't go to work today." It read.
"What? Who are you!" I texted back.
I didn't get a response. I ignored it which I later learned was a bad idea. I pulled into the parking lot of north ridge hospital and opened my car door.
I got out and walked to the locker room where I put on my scrubs.
*buzzz*
I got another text. This one read
"I warned you and you didn't listen, bad decision."
Who is texting me? This is so weird. Once again I ignored the message and went on normally with my day.
"Catherine can you give Brian Lucas in room 2495 his meds?" Stacey asked.
"Yeah sure." I replied.
I walked over to the desk and grabbed the meds and walked them to room 2495.
"Hi Mr. Lucas." I said. "It's time to take your meds."
I gave him a glass of water and he took his pills. I walked out of the room to treat my next patient when I heard
"Code blue! He's crashing."
I turned around to see what was going on and sure enough Brian was having a seizure.
"What happened?" I asked.
"We don't know. Just get out, please!" They yelled.
I turned around and walked away not knowing what had happened. Was it my fault?
I went to treat my next patient, still a little shocked by what just happened.
"Hi Mr. Robinson." I said to my patient.
"Hi." He said weakly.
"I'm gonna give you you're meds ok? You need to take them." I told him.
"Yes, yes ok." He said.
I gave him his meds and walked out of the patient's room. I walked to the locker room, it was 8:30 pm and I was getting ready to go home when Stacey walked in.
"Catherine I need to talk to you." She said in a concerning tone.
"What's up?" I asked a bit nervously.
"Catherine today two patients coded..."
"That's happens all the time. Why is this different?" I asked.
"They coded because you gave them the wrong meds." She said.
"That's impossible, I grabbed the meds that had their names on them." I argued.
"I'm not done." Stacey said, with sadness in her voice. "Brian Lucas threatened to sue you and the hospital."
"What?!" I said. "This has to be a mistake. How did this happen?"
"Catherine Mr. Lucas almost died today. I know it was an accident but I can see his frustration. You work in a hospital, you can't afford to make mistakes, you know that."
"But I didn't... Some one must have switched out the medicines." I said on the verge of tears.
"You can't make an accusation like that with out proof. No one is going to believe you."
"So now you don't believe me?" I said. I stomped out of the locker room and heard Stacey saying something.
"Catherine wait!" She yelled after me. "I never said I didn't believe you!"
I opened my car door and slammed it shut, angry at the whole world. I didn't give them the wrong medicine, I checked the names! I thought to myself.
I drove up to my house and walked inside. I ran to my room and pulled the covers over my head, dreading having to go to work tomorrow.
