{Niomi Cayer in the MM}
(That's Nicole's mother)

"I gotta get back to my moms office." I said getting up from the table. I walked over to the coffee maker and started to prepare my moms coffee the way she likes it.

"It was nice talking to you and don't you worry about that internship I got you girl." Christina picked up her coffee and walked out. Once I grabbed my things I headed back onto the elevator going back to the top floor to my moms office. Once I entered the office my mom greeted me with a big smile. "Hey sweety." She said standing and taking her coffee. "Ummm hi." I wasn't sure why she was so happy. I usually don't see her smile often but it was nice when she did. "I just got off the phone with an old friend of mine who's on the admissions board at Harvard." She said as her smile grew wider.

"Umm that's great what did they say?" I put on the best fake smile possible. I really appreciate all the things my mom has done to get me this far and get me into college. "They want to set up an interview isn't that wonderful hunny." "Yea thats great." I smiled at her.

"So when do you start the internship?" At this moment I was in my room on the phone with Karlie. "You mean when do WE start the internship." She replied giggling over the phone like a five year old. "Karlie I already told you I got rejected." I said falling back into my small depression. "What did my mom tell you?" She asked .

"Your mom told me she would hook me up with the internship,but..." "But nothing you know my momma got more connections than the president." She said interrupting my sentence. "I'm pretty sure your mom has connections WITH the president." I replied as we both laughed. Christina was the queen of connections. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. "So did she get me the internship?" I asked hopefully.

"Of course she did girl." Karlie said sounding very excited. That's what I loved about Karlie she was always so perky and happy. She was an optimist. "Omg I can't believe it I'm gonna be interning at Def Jamz!!!" I couldn't control my excitement and I let out a scream of happiness. "I gotta go my mom and I are making dinner together." Karlie said before hanging up the phone. I always admired how close Karlie and Christina are. Sometimes I wish me and my mom were that close.

Speaking of my mom at that moment she walked in my room carrying a stack of papers and a huge law book. "What's going on in here?" She asked coming to my bed sitting in front of me. "Nothing." I replied crossing my legs as I sat back on my bed. "I heard you scream. I thought something might be wrong." She said sitting down the law book and stack of papers. "Oh no I just got some really amazing news, but what's all that for?" I asked getting a little curious. "This is your summer internship." She said with a huge smile on her face. "What?" "I want you to intern at the office.

I'm working on a huge case and I want your help over the summer." She replied anxiously. "No mom I can't I'm not a lawyer I can't be in a court room. I have a fear of public speaking. I barely made it through my graduation speech without puking." I replied. This couldn't get any worse when I finally get the internship my mom wants me to intern at her law firm this is terrible. "Sweety your not going to be in the court room your just gonna be like helping me behind the scenes." She replied.

"Mom I cant I already have an internship somewhere else." I guess now was the time for me to tell my mom the truth. I have to break her heart and tell her I don't want to be a lawyer. "Another internship? Where is it and why didn't you tell me?" She asked clearly a little sad. "Def jam records." I replied just above a whisper. "No." "No? What do you mean no?" I asked. "I mean no your not going to ruin your future and spend your summer in a studio when you could be spending that time practicing on this case and interning at the law firm." She said growing upset.

"You can't just decide my future for me. Where I intern is my decision not yours." I was getting a little frustrated at this point. "I just don't understand how this is going to help you become a future lawyer." "Maybe I don't want to be a lawyer mom. That's your dream not mine." I practically yelled at her. Looking at my mom I could see the hurt and disappointment in her eyes.
