I've wanted to go to New York City since I watched Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast At Tiffany's with my three older sisters, Roxy, Rose and Darcy.
Okay, Darcy wasn't really watching the movie, she was more into texting her friends than actually watching the movie with us, but she was a good headrest. But ever since that magical, enchanting day full of Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, I started a journal, and filled it with every store, restaurant and place I wanted to go to in NYC. Yet, living in Lilyside, Maryland, it'd be too much of a hassle to fly-- especially drive-- to New York unaccompanied. Also the fact that I hadn't gotten my driver's license back then, that was just another complication to keep me from going to NYC.
But there's always dreaming, right?
So that's what I was doing on the morning of September 1st, 2014. Millions of of golden rays shined brightly through my curtains as I heard what sounded like 6-inch heels click down the hall, leading to my bedroom. I was still pretty tired, and all I wanted to do was flip over so I didn't face the gleaming window. Heck, I was exhausted. I guess lip-syncing and dancing around your room to Coheed and Cambria and Evanescence until two in the morning wasn't the best idea.
My bedroom door suddenly slammed open to reveal my platinum blonde sister, Darcy. It was surprising; she usually wasn't dressed by the time that I was woken up by either her, Roxy or even Rose, but, oh no, she was dressed. She literally looked like she came from a scene of one of Rose's romance novels. I flushed at the thought of what a girl would look like if one of Rose's romance novels came to life, but quickly turned my attention towards Darcy, who had her newly-manicured fingertips resting on her hips and her revealing outfit catching my uninterested eye.
She wore a skin-tight leather dress with large shreds cut open of the front to make the dress even more revealing than it was already was. The tears were positioned right above her large breasts, of which according to Rose, were implants, and several down a good proportion of her hips. I was so horrified to see my sister in such a... compromising position that I screeched in fear, and shielded my eyes, as if that would do anything.
Darcy suddenly clapped, bouncing up and down.
"Yes, it worked!" she screamed in victory, smiling wickedly at me, then almost nosediving out of my room. Believe me, I was as confused as confused could get, wondering why the heck my own loving sister came into my bedroom in such... revealing clothing! My face flushed several shades darker than normal as I feebly got up from my bed, and began to get dressed for the first day of school. I settled for a light turquoise sweater, some dark wash jeans and a pair of navy blue high tops, trying to look as if I didn't try on my outfit, and genuinely casual. Sighing softly, I quickly brushed my golden locks, hurriedly making them into a suitable hairstyle, and quickly sliding on my large navy blue glasses.
It was better than poking your eyes just to put contacts in every morning, right?
Once I finished getting ready, I ran down the stairs, and into the kitchen, smiling softly at my three sisters. Rose was standing in front of the empty sink, washing her hands, and Roxy was biting at her nails, paying no kind of attention to me nor her own sisters. But the moment she looked up briefly, a grand smile grew on her face.
"Hey, pumpkin!" she greeted as I walked towards her to give her my morning hugs and kisses. Roxy may not be the nicest person towards Rose and Darcy, her two and three month older sisters, but she was extremely nice to me. That's why she was the best sister, besides Darcy and Rose. She snuggled me in her arms, the large smile on her face. She was also the only person who ever called me pumpkin. My other sisters preferred to call me either lil' man (that is what Darcy called me) and sweet pea. (That one Rose called me.
