It was only the second week of school and already all anyone would talk about was homecoming. I would most likely end up going with Abigail since we were both forever alone but at least we had each other.

My first couple of classes seemed to drag on longer than usual so when the bell rang to dismiss us for lunch I darted out of the room to Abby's locker.

As I was about to approach her I saw her talking to Justin, one of Blake's friends.

By the look on his face and Abby's laughter you could tell that he had just told her one of the corny jokes that he was popular for.

Before long they began heading towards the cafeteria, Abby forgetting all about me, but that was okay, Justin's an okay guy, they would be cute together.

I trailed a couple feet behind them when suddenly Blake stopped me and pulled me aside.

"Hey! I was watching the lovebirds." I whined with a silly grin plastered on my face.

        "Who?"

        "Abigail and Justin."

        "Justin as in Justin Erins?"

        "Who else?"

        "Well sorry Ms. Sassy Pants."

        "... Anyway, what'd you need?"

"Oh right, so I know homecoming is still a while away but I have a friend who wants to ask this one girl he's been friends with forever to it but I- I mean he- doesn't really know how since he wants it to be special and I know you're into that sort of stuff so I was wondering if there was any tips you could give me so that I could help that friend out?"

Although Blake thought he had recovered from his slip-up I clearly heard him and began to think... could he be using this 'friend' as a cover up for himself? And this girl he was talking about... could it possibly be me? Haha, I'm hilarious, he would never ask me, but even with that thought in mind I had a tiny bit of hope. I mean if he were ever to-

        "Hello? Earth to Kennedy."

Oh right... I really need to quit zoning out in scenarios like this.

"Sorry, i was just thinking of how you should ask me out." WAIT DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD? KILL. ME. NOW.

        "What did you just say?"

"Uh, I said I was just thinking of how your friend should ask this girl to the dance, duh, why? What'd you hear?"

"I could've sworn I just heard you say you were thinking about how I should ask you out."

"What? Phss seriously Blake? I think you need a hearing aid."

Even though he didn't seem convinced at all, he dropped the subject so that I could answer his question.

"In all honesty, simply getting asked to the dance at all is a dream come true, but if this friend of yours really wants to go all out he should make her a cute pun-y poster and get her some roses or chocolates- better yet, both! I know if I were to ever be asked (hint, hint) like that it would be unforgettable."

"Okay yeah thats good, but what do you mean by pun-y? Like what should the poster say?" He asked eagerly.

"You see the thing is, I can't completely answer that for you. You said your friend has been friends with this girl for a while, he should know plenty of her interests. For example, if she's a soccer player, he could have a sign, or even a soccer ball, that has "kick it with me at homecoming?" written on it."

"Or he could buy her a cat and have a sign that says "let me take that pussy to hoco."'

"Ye- wait what? No! I'm being serious you idiot."

"So was I. But I get what you mean, thanks for the help, now lets go to lunch, I'm starving."

As we entered the cafeteria we saw our friends sitting scattered across the room, but before we could take another step, Madison ran up to Blake and said with the most annoying voice ever, "Blakey, come sit with us, I saved you a spot by me!" As she said that she totally ignored my existence until a second later when she looked me up and down as to say get lost. Not wanting to cause a scene, I quickly said bye to Blake who barely glanced at me (ouch) and headed towards Abby and Justin. Great, I'm stuck being the third wheel.

It took Abby around 5 minutes to acknowledge my presence (only because Justin got up to buy something from the vending machine) but once she saw me she broke out into the biggest grin ever and excitedly said, "guess what!?" "What?", I asked somewhat uninterested. "Well aren't you just a big ball of sunshine... anyway, Justin asked me to homecoming, can you believe it? I know I can't, I'm still processing it, pinch me- wait no, if this is a dream please don't wake me up."

How lovely. Not only will I be date-less for homecoming but I'll also be a third wheel all night long. Might as well write loser on my forehead that night.

"Congratulations girl, I'm so happy that one of y'all finally grew a pair."

        "Meaning?", Abigail asked cluelessly.

"Oh come on, its so obvious that you both have feelings for each other, it was bound to happen inevitably."

        "What... really?"

"I was counting down the days, but the best part about this is the fact that you're not denying anything."

Abby's face then rapidly grew red just as Justin came back. "What'd I miss?"

"Not much I was just stating the obvious which is that you two like each other." I replied, waiting for Abby's horrified reaction.

"That so?" he cooly asked while the bell signaling that lunch had ended rang.

"Yup, now know this- break her heart and I'll break your face." With that said, I got up and headed towards my next class that just so happened to be with the one and only Mr. McKInley.

"We're not even dating!" Abby scram at me.

"Might as well be." I responded right before exiting the cafeteria.

Abigail

"Quite a friend you have there, Ab."

        "You have no idea."

Hello everyone! I know, I know. I'm a horrible author who updates once in a blue moon, but you see I lost motivation for such a long time and just today (May 7th, 2016) an hour ago (1 am lol) I have regained it and have made it a goal to be a lot more active and update a lot more frequently. I have not received many views but thats completely understandable considering the type of author I am, but if there is even one of you who has waited for this to come out and has been here since the beginning, know that i appreciate you bunches <333

P.S. Mr. Mckinley is Blake, in case you forgot his last name (which was only mentioned once I think... when I was referring to his mom).
