Back in Italy, the young men that wondered around the streets and away from the safety of their family rules couldn't find themselves to solve things civilly. Oh no. These boys had to fight an intense battle if an unimaginably small pin dropped into a haystack. You think it would be stupid to hang around people like this; males like this. Knowing that they're the ones that'll either work out in the fields or behind the stalls. But me being friends with the biggest idiota (idiot), most likely in the entire town, I was just as much as to blame.
"Insieme per la vittoria! (We stand together!)" And there he goes again. I sighed running a hand over my face before looking up from the solid stability of the alleyway wall. "Insieme (Together)." That boy was stirring up more trouble than he could handle. I guess that's why he has me.
Yeah, yeah. I know; a male hanging out with a female? There's obviously something going on right? Wrong. Ezio's family and mine have been intertwined ever since we were little kids running around shamelessly in our bedrooms. He's the closest thing I have to a proper friend. Nobody liked me when I was younger and he was always the kid that seemed to play up. So we got along just fine.
"Silenzio! (Silence!)" I looked down at my fingernails as Ezio rattled on in a mock tone about Vieri de' Pazzi. "-slanders my family's name and forces his own miseries upon us. If w-"
"Enough of your nonsense, grullo! (idiot)!" That familiar voice that's been taunting Ezio and I most of our childhood rung throughout the alley. Ezio was taunted more than myself though. Ezio turned and I pushed my back off of the wall before making my way into our crowd. This was about to get serious real quick.
What can I say? Boys just can't seem to keep their fists in their pockets.
"Buona sera, Vieri! (Good evening, Vierei!) We were just talking about you. I'm surprised to see you here. I thought the Pazzi hired others to do their dirty work."
Cazzo (Fuck).
"It's your family that cries for the guards when there's trouble, codardo! (coward!) Afraid to handle things yourself?" The corner of Ezio's lips tipped up and I crossed my arms over my chest waiting for the smartass comment that was about to leave his mouth.
"Your sister seemed quite satisfied with the 'handling' I gave her earlier." And there we have it. Ezio spared us a glance and I could only crack a smile as he offered a small wink before looking back up at Pazzi.
A stone met Ezio and a hiss of pain escaped his lips as he clutched a hand over the top of his mouth. "Uccideleto! (Kill him!)" A grunt left the back of my throat as some boys began running towards us.
"Ezio no!" I yelled trying to snatch his wrist though he was too quick. He was already making his way towards the others as they began in their stupid petty fight again. Cazzo... cazzo! (Fuck... fuck!)
"So, I see you got here before me." A hand placed itself on my shoulder and I looked over to see Federico smiling down at me. A smile that says he was happy to see me and he didn't take notice of the squabbling in front of us.
"Well someone has to keep an eye on Ezio right?" He chuckled before patting my shoulder and walking over to his brother. I stepped back and pushed a strand of my side bang back behind my ear. Look at all these boys fighting; and yet Pazzi stands back not daring to lift a finger. It's understandable why Ezio hates him so much. Truth to be told, so do I.
Ezio and Federico began chatting and dodging any on coming boys that came at them. I had to admire them. All these terrible things were often thrown in their faces and they overcame them without a worry in the world. Maybe that's how we should all live.
Suddenly, my shoulder was shoved and I snapped up to see even more boys getting in on the fun. Fights and fists sauntered around the area as I had to step back. A body was then thrown back and I reacted by stepping forward and catching the boy. He was heavy alright. But I helped him up to his feet again.
"Grazie. (Thank you)"
"Don't mention it." I smiled. But my eyes widened when I saw the same idiota (idiot) throwing his fist. Latching my hand onto the boys, I spun around and turned on my heel for my fist to collide with the face of the ignorant boy.
He growled and stumbled back before lunging at me. Though I had quick stepping and found myself spinning along his sweat driven body before elbowing his lower back. He gasped and I kicked the back of his shins as he fell to the ground causing dust specs to fly.
"Fall back! Fall back!" Pazzi yelled retreating with his little tribe of boys making me roll my eyes and look at all the unconscious boys lying around.
"Nice hit." I looked over as Federico strutted his own style towards me.
"Si, (yes) I know." I grinned as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
"We're taking Ezio to the doctors. He has a busted lip."
"Sounds about right. But who says I'm going with you? It's getting quite late Federico." He opened his mouth to reply but his arm was quickly knocked off and replaced.
"Get your own amico (friend) Federico." Ezio said and pulled us through the dusty roads as I looked over to see his busted lip.
"Jesus Ezio. Can't you have one day where you don't look like merda? (shit?)"
"Ha-ha Ersilia." He rolled his eyes and looked away with a hidden smile.
"To the doctors!" Federico yelled as we tolled through the crowd.
"To the doctors." I sighed.
