Troye was waiting outside the studio after an hour long session with his voice coach. It was a beatiful morning, typical L.A. weather - just perfect. He was about to open the Uber app when suddenly a car rolled up, getting uncomfortably close to Troye.

"Hey man, what the hell are you... oh hey! The window rolled down, revealing a smiling Connor in the driver's seat.

"Get in loser, we're going hiking." the older boy said, opening the door for Troye, who quickly got in and closed it behind him. He immediately started rambling off a whole list of questions.

"Wait wait, okay first of all, how did you know when I finish here?"

"I've been waiting here for a while, I was wondering how you didn't notice the car."

"Okay where are we going?"

"Hiking."

"I'm not exactly dressed for hiking."

"I brought more comfortable shoes, you can change them."

"You need to stop taking care of me like a little boy."

"Oh my God, Troye!" Connor said, breaking the little back and forth dialogue, "I'm just looking out for you, so you do more than travelling between a studio and your apartment. Besides don't tell me you're not enjoying my attention." Connor's smile quickly faded away, when he realized just how stupidly cheeky he sounded.

"Well, you're really kind, thank you." Troye tried not to laugh from the second hand embarrasment, altough Connor was right, he did enjoy the other boy's company. A lot.

"Here we go." Connor said, parking the car and reaching behind him to pull a pair of shoes from the backseat.

"Put these on." he said slightly forcefully, handing them to his uncertain friend, "We have quite a journey ahead of us."

"Wait so are we just hiking?" Troye asked, changing his shoes.

"Hiking, talking, taking pictures, doing cartwheels, whatever you want. Just try to be a bit more... relaxed." Connor said with finality, getting out of car and walkinga around to the other side to open the door the door for Troye.

They started walking towards the hills and as they were about to climb, Troye realised the very obvious. They were going to spend the next two hours together, far away from any kind of civilization - just the two of them together, without any interruption.

Not that he didn't want this, he really wanted it. He needed to focus on not saying anything stupid or too flirty while they were together. But if he has to actually stop himself from flirting, does it mean he has a crush on Connor? His best friend? No, they're just that, friends. Troye thought about this for a few seconds, trying not to let his mind wander if maybe they could be more.

"Sorry." Troye said, realising he had been completely silent for a minute or two.  But were they just going to continue to daydream about each other forever, neither of them daring to make the first move?

"It's okay, but I hope you don't want to spend the entire day just walking silently." Connor laughed, "How is your new voice coach?"

"She's pretty nice, we had a lot of fun. We talked about the album and she said she is sure I will 'make it.'" he explained.

"Are you?" Connor asked, looking directly at Troye.

"I don't know. You know writing a song is a lot of work and I feel like I'm not capable to put so much effort into it and it would end up sucking." he didn't return Connor's gaze, instead he was looking down on the ground.

"Well do you think a breathtaking view would move anything inside your artistic little heart?" Connor asked, a smile forming on his tired face.

"All I see is trees and dry bushes, to be honest." Troye said, frowning jokingly.

"Well, how about now?" Connor took a right turn and suddenly they were standing on the top of a cliff, with the whole of Los Angeles below them.

Troye seen this before on Instagram and Tumblr and basically everywhere, but it was the first time he could experience it in the flesh. He felt majestic with an entire city below his feet. He could see all of the buildings, the roads, all the places he knew, and the ones he didn't.

"Pretty nice, am I right?" Connor asked.

"Yeah, you're right." Troye smiled back this time. Connor looked at him in the typical "this is pretty but you're prettier" way. Or did he? Of course not, Troye probably just told that to himself because he really wanted whatever this was to be real, right?

Connor took a step forward, went down to one knee, and pulled something out of his pocket. Troye's heart started beating like crazy, even though the older boy wasn't even facing him. Connor took his phone out, and started taking pictures.

"Wait did I really just imagine Connor proposing?" Troye thought to himself with a slight "WTF" expression on his face.

"Let me take some too." he said, searching for his phone.

"Of course, yeah, here." Connor said standing up, walking away so Troye had enough space.

"No, no wait! I want to take a picture of you and me." he said motioning towards his phone.

Connor laughed, putting his arm around the younger boy's shoulder, turning his back towards the city. Troye took the selfie and checked how it turned out.

"Nice, are you going to post it?" Connor asked, looking at the picture.

"No, no I won't." Troye said smiling at his phone. He wanted to keep this as a memory, just for the two of them. He didn't take it to get likes.

"Okay, but let's keep moving because I'm afraid we'll get a stroke if we keep standing here in the heat." Connor said sarcastically.

They started to make their way to the end of the road. The walk was filled with chatting, laughing, some uncomfortable teasing, just the usual best friend stuff.

Getting close to the end they were already able to see Connor's car.

"I'm tired, sweaty, and my legs hurt. I'm never doing this again." Troye said in a childish voice.

"Stop whining, you had fun and I know it." Connor laughed, searching for his keys. They got into the car, leaving the journey behind them.

"Yeah, I had fun, thank you for bringing me." Troye said.

"Great, I hope you're excited about part two then." he said with a grin on his face.

"What part two?" Troye asked, now turning to face the boy driving.

"Tomorrow, we'll do it again. Not the hiking, but something fun, okay?" Connor said, excitement evident in his voice.

"Okay." Troye replied, attempting to hide his grin.

By the end of the car ride, both of them were in hysterics laughing over a story Troye had told about something that had happened at work.

That's something they were both very good at - Making each other laugh. Troye only wished they could have time to do it more often.

Hey guys, sorry this chapter is kind of a filler, and it took so long, but also the start of what the whole fic is about. Thank you for reading Chapter 4 is coming soon. :)
