MACY'S POV
A sea of frustration floods through my senses, my vision clogged with gushing annoyance, swamping my sanity.
I groan in aggravation, my correcting pen is bleeding red ink all over my important documents for work.
I'm an intern at Diamond publishing, editing aspiring authors' writing, censoring their first draft prints. Writing has always been something I pleasured in. Throughout my educational career writing, reading, and English have continually been my strong core classes.
This aggravating hiccup will cause me another hour; trying to recover manuscripts take extra time. I quickly snag my laptop, immediately logging into my email so I can print a new copy. Once I pull up my work files, I click on print and wait impatiently by the printer.
When I get settled, I pull out another ink pen and begin revising. But as I'm rearranging my newly printed documents I'm interrupted by a man clearing his throat.
I look up from my papers, only to see a tall, slender man with untamed caramel hair styled into a messy quiff and warm coffee eyes gazing towards me, nervously scratching the back of his head.
"Hey." He greets somewhat anxiously, darting his pupils around the room.
"Hey." I say, returning the friendly gesture quietly.
"So, um my name's Marcus and I was wandering if you maybe want to grab coffee sometime tomorrow with me? I see you here a lot and I think your really um... Yeah."
I shyly tuck a loose strain of hair behind my ear, I don't know this man and this completely came out of nowhere.
But when I look into Marcus's soft brown eyes, there was a glistening shine of innocences and moonlit tinted shades of good intensions. The way he approached me was so gentlemanly and favorable, something that enchanted my zealous captivity.
"I'd love to." Despite my greater judgment he was undeniably handsome, mesmerizing my keen attentiveness.
Grinning to himself he questioned,"Does 8 o'clock work?"
I nod, probably with a small smile plastered on my face.
As Marcus turns to leave I add quickly,"By the way my name's Macy."
A low chuckle escapes his lips,"Macy." He repeats to himself, while giving a meek wave and trotting away.
My stomach swarms with butterflies, fluttering internally in my insides. My interior murky with elation, I feel like a young school girl getting a valentine from a boy- active with convivial.
I try to refocus my attention on my manuscripts, but my mind keeps floating with images of Marcus, his disheveled caramel hair and warm coffee eyes lingering in my vision.
After a while I finally conclude it's best just to put away my papers because there's no way I'm going to be able to finish effectively if my minds wandering.
I neatly stack my documents and important papers together, stashing them in my bag and slinging my stuff over my shoulder.
As I walk towards my bike, stationed beside the town hall's garden, I contemplate on what my date with Marcus will be like.
He seemed really genuine, someone you want to bumps into. Marcus ignited a longing interest to get to know him, he was like a mystery- a walking question mark. A characteristic I wasn't sure I liked completely, but it paints bold curiosity on the all the wall of my brain.
I hoist my work materials into the front basket of my bike, swinging my legs over, and planting my feet sturdily on the peddles.
I don't have a car yet, for I am fresh out of college, lucky to even find a paid internship job. But I do have plans in the mere future to purchase a car soon, a used one probably because they're quite expensive.
As I'm riding my flimsy bike down the pavement I notice the beautiful sunset reflecting firery colors on the concrete beneath the wheels. Tranquility is teeming from the sky, preparing me for what ever may happen with tomorrow.
