Just like I did every morning for the past few years, I sat on the bench at the bus stop and took out a book, while waiting for the yellow fume monster to take me to school. I left home early today, so that I could have some time to read in peace. You'd be surprised if you knew how much noise a one-year-old girl can make in the mornings.
Having to wait no more, I opened "Looking for Alaska" by John Green and started reading, enjoying every single word. Reading was my passion. Writing? Not so much. I always felt unable to capture all the right moments, therefore I always ended up frustrated and unsatisfied with my work. It just wasn't meant to be.
Minutes passed and I just sat there with the book on my lap and a grin on my face. It must've looked weird, but I simply didn't care. I didn't even realise I wasn't alone, until a strong smell of smoke hit my nostrils. I looked up and saw a girl standing a few feet away. I couldn't see much, as she was wearing a hood and I didn't want to stare. I always hated when someone stared at me, so I wouldn't do that to people.
The girl inhaled smoke once more, then dropped the cigarette to the ground and stepped on it. I saw her turning my way, so I dropped my head and pretended to read again. There was something fascinating about her, maybe it was the fact that I couldn't see her face. For some reason, I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that she was somehow special. I couldn't explain it.
My thoughts were distracted by the sound of the bus coming. I got up and walked in as soon as the door opened, not looking back to see the girl's face.

I arrived at school about twenty minutes before the class started, so I went to the locker to get my english book and met my best friend on the way.
"Cat," I smiled at her. Cat wasn't her real name, but for some reason she liked when people called her that. I wondered why many times, but she would always tell me it's because of her favourite animal. Strange, I know, but Cat was the most positive and happy person I have ever met in my life. She brightened up every room she walked into, so no one really cared about her weird habits.
"Hey! How was your weekend?" she asked, as we walked into the main area of the school.
"Great, I finally got some rest and read a book. How was yours?"
"Fine. I visited Sue on Saturday," we sat at the table. Sue was my other friend. She wasn't as positive as Cat, but I could talk to her about anything, she would always listen.
"How is she? I haven't seen her in ages"
"She.. doesn't feel well," my friend told me, while fiddling with her hair. I was about to ask her for details, but then I saw the same jacket I saw at the bus stop. The girl wasn't facing me, but at least I could now see her long, bright, white hair. She was looking at the notice board, probably for the first time. She must be new, I thought.
"Is everything okay?" Cat asked me after a few seconds. I nodded.
"So what's with.." I started, but I was interrupted by Nate, another friend of mine. He hangs out with us a lot.
"Good morning ladies, ready for class?" he asked, while sipping on a cup of coffee. This was his addiction, his trademark. Nate was very original. He was very friendly and popular - everyone liked him. He was one of those people that give no reason for anyone to hate him. He never had a girlfriend though, but that didn't seem to bother him. His clothes were usually colourful and made him stand out. I always thought he would be good with Cat, but for some reason they never hooked up.
"Yes! Actually, I need to go and ask Ms.Carter a question before class. Are you coming with me?" Cat asked us. Nate nodded, but I declined, saying I need to check something, just to give them a chance to talk on their own. In the meantime, I took out my book and began to read.
"Hey" an unknown voice spoke in my direction. I jumped up a little, surprised.
"You scared me," I looked up from my book and saw the girl from the bus stop. I was right, somehow - she was special.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to,"
"It's fine," I muttered
"So, what's your name?" she asked. Her long, white hair contrasted with her big, dark brows and deep blue eyes in a unique way. Her skin was pale, as if she never exposed it to sunlight, but her red lipstick warmed her cold features. She was wearing a black beanie with "CHANNEL zero" written on it. Tall and skinny, reminded people of a Victoria's Secret model. She was beautiful.
"Stacey" I answered quietly. Why are we even talking?
"Really? You don't look like one," her eyes searched every detail of my face until I frowned.
"Excuse me?"
"I mean... I always imagined Stacey to be a blondie, booby girlie girl. Just... not like you,"
Intrigued, I decided to continue the conversation
"And you are..?"
"My name is Ana. I just moved here. Mind showing me around?" Well, that escalated quickly. I blinked in slight confusion.
"Uh... Sure" She looked at her timetable
"Do you know where the history classroom is?" she asked me. I nodded and got up. She followed me up the corridor in silence.
"This is it," I smiled as we got there.
"Thanks," I was about to turn around and start walking again, when she asked "What class do you have after break?"
"Um.. English, why?"
"Wanna ditch?" a delicate smile formed on her lips. I hesitated. It was her first day and she was already getting herself into trouble. It's not that big of a deal though, I guess. I've never done such a thing before, but the mysterious girl intrigued me. I bit my lip. Ana raised her eyebrows, waiting for an answer
"Sure"

So there it is - the first chapter. I know it's short, I'll try to make the next one longer :) I really hate the beginnings, so sorry if it's not very interesting. I just hope someone reads my story and I would love to receive some feedback :) Thanks <3
