Confessing

My phone buzzed in the seat next to me and I automatically turned to catch a glimpse of it. Sadly I couldn't see the screen well enough to see who it was and I still had about ten minutes left of my drive.

It's been a couple of days after my date with Hannah. We've texted some, but haven't set up a new date yet. I would ask her, I just don't know of anywhere or anything to do.

This morning one of my coworkers, Eddy, talked about this jazz club and I think I'm going to try it out. I figured that if it was good we can go there. I know she likes jazz and I like live jazz.

As soon as I got home I looked at my phone. I mean, I was still had my seat belt on.

Turd

Of course. It's just Cara.

How's LA treating you? We should hang sometime soon.

Didn't even give me a 'hey'. Cara is, and always has been, my best friend. She's a special FX makeup artist. Another reason why I chose the apartment I chose: she's right next door. I had a really hard time deciding if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

I just got home. Come over in about five minutes.

I hit send. Who am I kidding? She's already over. Three weeks in and she's already breaking in. When I say 'breaking in' I mean using the spare key.

Already made myself at home.

I had sent the first sentence that popped into my head:

Of course you did.

When I got in she was there, just as she said. Laying on my couch, watching my TV.

"Hey, looser. Took you long enough," Cara said, not even looking up from her show.

"How long have you been in my apartment? Yours is right next door," I said rolling my eyes.

"'Bout an hour," not replying to me previous statement.

"Sleep over I guess then?" We tend to have one every weekend to catch up.

"When is it not?" Right as she said that I realized I was going to have to spill about Hannah. Let's hope the subject of relationships doesn't come up.

"What do you want for dinner?" She looked up. That could either mean she heard the nervous in my voice or she heard 'dinner'. Most likely the last one.

"Chinese. It's kind of been a long week for me."

"Let me guess, Staton?" Mr. Staton was her boss. Let's just say Cara isn't the poster child for coming in on time.

"Yup."

"Fair enough," I said and the picked up the phone to order take out. I knew her order like the back of my hand. We have been friends since we were two. You pick up things along the way.

"It's your turn to pick it up. I did last week." She groaned at that, but got up anyways.

"You wear me out!" She said as she left.

~*~*~

We are on the floor in the middle of my living room with empty food cartons around us. The television on some random channel in the background. We were laughing about something stupid her boss had said.

Buzz buzz buzz

Buzz buzz buzz

I pick up my phone without even looking at it.

"H-hello?" I said with the end of my laughter still in my voice.

"Hey, is it a bad time? I could call back later," her voice sent butterflies in my stomach.

"No! No! It's fine, Hannah. I'm not doing anything important right now," I replied, probably too fast.

"No, I'm not important at all. Just twenty-six years of friendship. Don't mind me," Cara said sarcastically getting up most likely to raid my fridge. I rolled my eyes.

"I was just wondering if you would like to get together soon. Maybe get some dinner or something," I could tell that she was nervous, it made me want to reach in the phone and hug her.

"Yeah. I would love to! How about Friday night? Around six-thirty?" I had Cara's attention. She was giving me this you-will-explain-later look. And mouth 'who is that?'

"Sounds fine to me. How about you give me your address and I will pick you up," if she sounded nervous before she was definitely nervous now.

"Sure," I gave her my address. Cara really stared me down when I started telling her where I lived. 'Who the eff is that?' She gave me a huge grin after she mouthed it.

"Okay. Well, I will see you then."

"Alright. I am looking forward to it," my smile grew really big, as well as Cara's grin.

"I am too... Okay, I have to go. Ollie's wanting to go out."

"Okay. See you Friday," with that I hung up.

"WHO THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT???!!!!" She didn't even let me finish putting my phone down.

"Don't get mad at me." We tell each other every thing. I'm afraid that she will get mad at me for not telling her right after it happened.

"Why would I be mad?! Who is this Hannah! Tell me now!" Her eyes went wide.

"Well..."

"Lilyann Grace Ward! You tell me right now!"

"It may or may not have been Hannah Hart," she started freaking out. But I continued before she could say anything, "And she may or may not have been seeing if I wanted to have dinner. And we may or may not have already had a coffee date. And you are definitely freaking the fuck out right now."

"That was who!!!"

"Hannah Hart."

"And you didn't tell me before!" She was upset. But can you really blame her?

"I'm sorry! I just... I don't know. I knew how you would act if it was any one! Let alone Hannah Hart!"

"I can't really be that mad at you though... I met Connor Franta and have already had a date with him... So," she shied away from me.

I did the only thing that I could think to do. I laughed. I straight up burst into hysterical laughter. And Cara did the same.

We just sat there, in the middle of the floor, laughing. If anyone came in at that moment we would be put in a mental hospital. I mean, we were rolling on the floor laughing.

"W-who would h..have thought... We both m-meet our fav-favorite YouTubers and d-don't tell each other," I barely got out in between laughter.

"I-I-I know r...right," Cara replied.

We calmed down eventually and she turned to me with this serious look on her face. "Are you scared? I mean it's been six years since you have seen anyone. Much less a woman."

"Honestly, it was never my intention to find someone, I thought I was going to be single for the rest of my life, but... I don't know. She was there, in front of me, and asked to have coffee. And I said yes. I guess I just wasn't going to pass up the opportunity."

"So, you are finally putting you self out there! Good for you!"

"I forgave a long time ago. I just never forgot. I think it's time to move on." After saying that I realized how right  that was. I shouldn't be holding back because of one bad incident with one horrible person. "Enough about me! How was your date with Connor?"

She started going into full detail about how he paid for her drink at Starbucks and everything after that just kind of unraveled perfectly. She must really like him because she doesn't act like this about dates. Every time I ask about a date she always shrugs and and says something like,'it was fun', or,'it was alright.' It's normally a fight to get anything out of her but, tonight it's a fight to make her stop.

Whenever she says something that reminds me of Hannah I grin even more. I really like this girl. And we've only had one date.

What is she doing to me?
