Hidden: Prologue.

Ivanna POV:

     I kept my head low as I weaved through the mass of people flooding the streets of downtown Denver. With only sweatpants, a long sleeved tee and some boots, I became colder and weaker by the second. Wanting nothing more than to be snuggled in a nice warm bed with blankets and a cup of coffee, I knew I wouldn't be able to have that happen for a while. Most stores were closing due to the time while some places were just getting busy. My phone was dead resulting in me not being allowed to call anybody; not like they would help anyway. Not seeing any options available I went and crouched down in a corner next to a nice glass building. I folded my limbs into a fetal position and shivered as a way to provide myself with body heat. I watch the people who briskly walked by paying me no mind and desperately wished at least one of them would help.

    I decided I would try to get some money from my room at my parents house, that is if they allow me to. Afterwards I would try to find somewhere to stay. I may need to stay in a homeless shelter for a while but at least I'd be able to stay somewhere. Knowing I'd need money -which I don't have- to get into a shelter I couldn't get into one tonight. I refuse to ask for money from people on the street out of pride and respect. I got myself in this position and I shouldn't ask people for their hard earned money. My teeth chattered together but I paid no mind. Shit happens in life but you have to keep going and learn from it. Upon realizing this, I also realized I can't be so naive. The world isn't all flowers and rainbows and it provides more sadness rather than happiness. Ignorance is bliss but it's also one of the worst things you can be.

     And it was in that moment I realized only certain people are worthy of your love and trust. You need to be aware of your feelings and who's actually there for you. When it comes time, people leave in your weakest times. That's when you realize you're better off without them and you're a better person without them. You'll always be if you can function without them because your existence shouldn't revolve around anyone person. The only person in which you should rely solely on is yourself and no one else.
