The police came to get his body. When the police asked if I had anyone else I could stay with, I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to go to an orphanage.
"Yes officer, my best friend said I could stay with her until my family comes from Italy." I walked into the house and packed as much stuff as possible. When I walked out of the house I didn't look back, I walked. I just kept walking until night came. I found an old alley to stay in for the night. It was uncomfy and hard, but it could be worse. The next morning I skipped school to find a job. I didn't find one of course. So I went back to the alley to sleep again. It started pouring and everything I had got drenched.
"Hey, are you ok?" Said Nick in my health class. I just stared at him like a lost puppy. "You shouldn't be out here alone with no umbrella or jacket. Come here."
I walked over to him and he gave me his jacket. We stood there under his umbrella for a few minutes.
"Do you have a place to go other than here?" Again I stared. I didn't know what to say. I'm homeless? I lost both my parents and now I'm alone? "I'm sorry if I'm startling you, Im just trying to help. If you don't have a place you can stay with me."
"Please." I whispered as we walked away with my soaking wet clothes and blankets.
