"Austin!" I shouted, the heavy taste of rain in the air. It had just stopped pouring.
Austin had said he was going to the bathroom. Twenty minutes had passed and- considering the truck was still parked in the parking lot and the bathroom was empty- something was wrong.
A puddle splashed under my sneakers as I went back inside the restaurant, stopping a waiter.
"Have you seen a younger man a little taller than me with dark hair?" I asked. He turned to me and I felt myself go sick.
"Mr. Night? I'll take you to him." I started running, pushing past a family coming in the doors and hearing the man behind me.
"You keep running and I'll just have to dispose of him." I skidded to a halt, swallowing harshly. I considered for only a few seconds, knowing I couldn't let anything happen to him.
The man, whoever he was, knew I couldn't let anything happen to him as well.
"You won't touch him." I turned back to the man, feeling the humidity start to frizz my hair. There was a gun tucked in my waistband. But first, I had to find Austin.
