Leaving Home

I walk into the room
That once held all my belongings
From the age of five
To the age of twenty

I sat on the window sill
Staring at the blank walls
Wondering where the time has gone

A tear rolls down my cheek
As the memories
Overwhelm me
Of what will no longer be
The place I call home

I sit in the car
As I take my last look
I crash
And the memories consume me
Drown me for a moment

I compose myself
Looking forward
Into the sun beyond

A new place I shall go
A new place I shall learn
A new place I shall call home

I now walk into my room
That holds my belongings
From the age of twenty
To some unknown age
Years down the road
