*Andrea's POV*
- two years later on Taylors 6th birthday-

"Okay babes, you know the deal blow out your candles and get in bed before daddy gets home. If it works you get an extra special surprise when he's sleeping." It was killing me as I said this sentence a second year in a row.
" Whatever." Taylor's 6 now. She understands a lot more. And all she sees is her mother has given up, and she hates me for it.
She walkedaway from the cake, candles still lit and goes into the bathroom. I want to cry but I can't. It's not right, its her birthday. So I go in her room and she is already in the bed with her back turned to the door. I sigh and close her door, sit on the couch and pull out a cigarette. The key is in the door. Nicholas is home, sloppy drunk... On Taylor's birthday, I am so fed with his bullshit. We start arguing and I see Taylor poke her head out her door. So I try to calm down because I hate when she sees this violence. But then he slaps me, so hard I fall to the floor.
I can't feel the right side of my face. My life has been so crazy for the past 2 years. I'm slowly breaking and I think its time I crack.
*Taylors POV*

OH MY GOD. "Help her Taylor. Go, your not afraid. Go protect your mother!"
As soon as I grip enough confidence, my mother's next sentence cracks my heart in half and I fall down to my knees after that punch to the gut.
"You know what? Do drugs, drink every night, be crazy... But you're gonna have to be crazy without me!" She says getting up from the floor.
"You and Taylor aren't going no where!" Dad slurs
"No, Taylors not going nowhere. I can't live this life anymore. I'm not a punching bag!"
"Where you gonna go? You nothing without me." He said that so proudly. I almost threw up.
My mother was now crying through her words, "I COULDN'T CARE LESS! I HATE YOU! I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE YOUR SHIT ANYMORE!!!"
My heart fell to the floor as she started to leave. I ran out my room screaming and crying her name but my father grabbed me, holding me back as I reached for her. "MOMMY! MOMMY PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME! MOOOOMMY!!!"
She just left. She didn't look back. She never came back. She just left me to fend for myself. What am I gonna do? My father drops me carefully and leaves me on the floor to curl up and weep.
