***Below is my submission for the Songspiration of Taylor Swift's song Style.***

His breathing was haggard and he looked all sorts of dead in the crisp hospital gown. Emotionless, motionless, he lay on the hospital bed that was covered in the stark white sheets. The sound of the beeping monitor was possibly the only thing keeping me sane. It was the sound of hope and assurance that my beloved was still breathing, still alive. And it was that constant beeping that lulled me in reminiscence back to one of my most cherished moments with him.

It was a cool, clear September evening. I had just started my internship at the fashion company Style & Co. and was elated to have been chosen from all of the other applicants. He on the other hand was the son of the CEO and founder of the company and was under his father's scrutiny as he was one day to inherit everything and be in charge. I of course did not know that or any better, but I should have seen it coming. Our first encounter was a "coincidence" as he put it, but till this day I still believe he bumped into me on purpose.

"Oh I'm so sorry. Here let me help you."

I was already running late that day as is and did not want a scolding from my boss. Quickly, I bent down to collect my papers that were spread like feathers on the ground. He, too bent down to help and I couldn't help but giggle at his clumsiness.

"I'm Remy."

He stuck his hand out with that adorable grin on his face. He sure was a James Dean as I remember all of the girls vying for his attention. But he just ignored them all.

"And I'm late, excuse me."

I wasn't trying to flirt or anything but I was more worried about getting in trouble, or worse, getting fired. Clearly he was taken back as I'm sure he hadn't expected any female to not just wilt over into his embrace.

Half way down the hall he must have finally gotten over the shock as he stood on his tiptoes and called back out. "Wait! But what's your name?"

"Sarah." I replied and smiled before ducking into the conference room to avoid having to answer any more of his inquisitive questions.

It was a few days later that he and I talked and 'bumped' into each other several times. We were out of the office running an errand for his father. The skies were angry as that morning the dense and dark, gray clouds rolled over like guards of the sky. And just as Remy and I were walking down the street, the gates of heaven must have open as the clouds soon drenched us in their tears. Remy and I just laughed and quickly he pushed me under the dome of a nearby building to shield us from the heavy downpour.

Our breathing was both labored from the quick movement. The heat of our bodies mixed with one another as he and I were only but a breath apart. I could smell the cinnamon on his breath from the muffin he had earlier mixed with my coffee breath. His arms rested beside me on the wall, guarding and providing me with a sense of security and safety. Hesitantly, I peered into his eyes from under my lashes and his emerald green eyes met mine. I was robbed of my breath and my heart began to beat erratically. In that moment my palms began to sweat, my eyes closed half way, decorating my cheeks with my eyelashes, and my lips parted. I could not take my eyes off of his lips as both he and I moved in closer to each other. Soon, his hot breath fanned over my cheeks. Only a centimeter apart left.

It was the slightest caress to our joined hands that brought me back to where I was and from the memory of our first kiss. Remy was finally awake. No words need be spoken as his emerald gems and my tear-filled honey eyes did all of that for us. In each glance a thousand different words were spoken and to see his beautiful eyes once more let all the bottled up emotions inside rush like avalanches down the slopes of my face. With one final squeeze to my hand he looks with clarity, deep into my eyes before we both flat line; I of heartache and he of fate.

The End...
