The free-tailed bats will fly out of their cave in a counterclockwise rotation then spread out to about a 100 miles (160.932 kilometers) from the cave to eat. The amount of bats that fly out depends on the weather. The time I saw it there were thousands, but it just stopped raining. For me it took about a half an hour but times can very. But it is a very fascinating experience.
