RULE 1: DO NOT FORCE TIME INTO AN INESCAPABLE LOOP. DOING ANYTHING THAT COMPROMISES THE LINEAR FLOW OF TIME WILL RESULT IN THE ERASURE OF THE TIMEPIECE USED AND EVERY SENTIENT BEING THAT HAS EVER USED IT.

RULE 2: THE GENERAL PUBLIC MAY NOT BE MADE AWARE OF TIME TRAVEL BEFORE IT HAS BEEN/ WILL BE INVENTED.

RULE 3: AN OWNER OF A TIMEPIECE MAY NOT BE MADE AWARE OF THE DATE IN WHICH ANOTHER TIMEPIECE OWNER DIES. IF TWO OWNERS GET TOO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER, THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THEIR INTERWOVEN LIVES WILL COMPROMISE THE LINEAR FLOW OF TIME.

EXTENSION: IN ORDER TO LESSEN THE POSSIBILITY OF TWO TIMEPIECE OWNERS GETTING TOO CLOSE, ALL TIMEPIECE OWNERS AND THEIR ACCOMPLICES WILL USE FAKE NAMES WHEN ON COMPANY BUSINESS.

RULE 4: WHENEVER TIMEPIECE OWNERS MUST CONVERSE WITH THEMSELVES, THEY MAY ONLY START A CONVERSATION IF IT IS WITH A VERSION OF THEMSELVES THAT HAS ALREADY EXPERIENCED THE CONVERSATION. BEGINNING A CONVERSATION WITH ONESELF FROM THE PAST WILL LEAD TO AN IRREVOCABLE PARADOX.

RULE 5: NO SINGLE PERSON SHALL BE PERMITTED TO EXIST IN MORE THAN SEVEN PLACES AT ONE TIME. EIGHT OR MORE INSTANCES OF A SENTIENT BEING EXISTING AT ONCE COULD RESULT IN UNNECESSARY STRESS ON THE TIMELINE.
