The Mafia: What started out as a purely illegal group eventually evolved into one which blended the criminal underworld with the business world. Many believe that after the end of prohibition they lost most, if not all, of their power. But in reality, the Mafia simply diversified their holdings in the same way any good business would. Once they had spread outward into supposed "legal" territory, they found that business was booming; their long history of crime proved to be their biggest ally, who wouldn't want someone who isn't averse to the concept of breaking a couple kneecaps on their side in the backstabbing world of business?
