"This is stupid!" I slammed down my pen onto my paper. "Why does this have to be complicated?" I angrily blew some loose hairs out of my face and got up from my red spinny-chair. Social studies has the hardest pieces of homework ever! It's not like my parents can help me. They're just some idiots who think I'm a mistake, a glitch in their plan for a perfect life. I hated homework. I hated my parents. I hated dumb, sweaty Texas. I hated life. A slow, single tear ran down my face. No. I, surprisingly, don't cry often. I've gotten tough living in the smallest room in the house and caring for myself every single day.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated on my bed. A dashed across the carpet to my bed because I knew exactly who it was.

Hey, Alexia. Doesn't ur name just roll off the tongue? R u excited about tomorrow? I promise that I'll wait at the airport for u 2 arrive in Seattle. I bet u r gonna love it! Promise you'll call before u leave ok?
I immediately texted back "I promise" and plopped down on my bed. I loved him, with all my heart. The way he smiled at me and stared into my eyes with his dark hair roughed up like there had been a windstorm. Of course, that was over video chat after he left, but it still felt the same as when he was here. He did use to go to my school last year when I was 16, but I guess at the time he thought I wasn't interested until I said yes after he asked me out. Obviously I was interested, I just don't like to show those emotions. I mean, he is gorgeous, and we had planned our whole lives like we would be together forever. Everything felt perfect...other than the fact he lived up in Seattle. It's a shame that we didn't just date while we were together in San Antonio until like a week before he left. A lot of guys here say I'm pretty and hit on me but, I can tell they're not worth it. Max is. Max is worth it. Tomorrow, I'm getting on a plane to Washington and no one can stop me. And I am never coming back to San Antonio. I'm going to be free from my parents. I mean, they didn't even say ANYTHING when I told them I bought my ticket. They just laughed and handed me a suitcase.
Tomorrow, I go to school, finish packing, and get on that plane. I'm running from this dump. By tomorrow night, I'll be with my boyfriend in paradise.
