Kendall walked through the back door, and threw her bag on the breakfast bar.

" Anyone home? mom? Morgan?"

The house was as silent as a tomb. A shiver flew up Kendall's spine involuntarily, as she made her way through the kitchen into the hallway. It was late in the afternoon in the middle of winter, and shadows had begun to form in the corners of the room, dust motes spinning in the last shafts of light let in from the leaden windows. Somewhere upstairs a floorboard creaked in the soundless house. Kendall grimaced as she hurried across the hall to one of the better lit rooms, all the while feeling as though someone or something was at her back, ready to grab her at any given moment.

" Wow I guess I'm a lot more spooked than I imagined."

She thought to herself, as she began switching on the lights. She moved quickly through the downstairs rooms, her heart in her mouth every time she popped her head round another doorway, clicking on the lights quickly and heading back towards the kitchen to wait for Alex.

Settling at the kitchen table, she began unloading her school bag. She was hoping to get a little homework done before Alex got there. Hopefully homework was the last thing they would be doing. She thought wistfully snickering to herself. Her mind wandered to the next day, when Gabby, and Neve would be sleeping over. Hopefully a little fun with her girlfriends would take her mind off all of this. That is unless Neve's head starts spinning like a top , and green bile pours out of her mouth! She thought to herself.

The ticking of the kitchen clock was amplified in the absolute stillness of the house. Kendall began to shift in her seat uncomfortably, as again the silence began to unnerve her. She lowered her head and tried to concentrate on her homework, trying hard to ignore the subtle creaks, and groans from the joints of the old house. Each sound making her jumpier, as her thoughts returned to the day's events over and over. What exactly did she see today? Was she losing her mind? She heard Neve's words as clearly as she heard her own. And her face, my god her face...there is no other way to describe it, other than demonic. Something was inside of her, and if not then she really was going mad!

Before she could finish chewing things over in her mind, two hands clamped firmly on her shoulders.

She screamed,

"Kendall, no hey, Kendall it's me."

Alex said, spinning her around to face him.

" Jesus Christ Alex, don't do that to me."

Kendall admonished.

" Sorry baby, I saw you sat at the table through the window, and snuck in the door to surprise you."

Alex stroked her long blonde hair fondly, trying to calm her thundering heartbeat down a little.

" Don't worry about it, I'm just on edge that's all. let's go upstairs and chill a bit before Morgan get's home from the library."

Gathering up her books quickly, they made their way upstairs.

" Are you still shook up from this morning? You know Neve wouldn't say anything like that right? You're just a little shaken from the weirdness with the board yesterday."

Alex chided, as they settled down on her bed.

" I don't know babe... I...it was just so real, I heard it like you are talking to me right now!"
