Chapter One

Daily Life Begin

I woke up in a room I hadn't seen before. For some reason (perhaps related to that pain on my head?), I couldn't remember much of what had happened before this... I figured that perhaps, nothing of interest happened and shrugged it off. But I knew that was impossible. Touching the area on my head throbbing with pain, I struggled to remember the events of the previous day.

Let's see... What do I remember...? First off, I remember arriving at Hope's Peak and passing out as soon as I'd entered the school. Then, after that, I remember waking up in a strange classroom... Next, I met my classmates. And that's where anything close to normality, if you can even call it that, ends. My classmates and I met with our school's "headmaster" in the gym next, but they're not even human. In fact, he's a robotic black-and-white teddy bear, that moves and talks on its own. I find it hard to believe even now, but it's true.

And now... I remember the worst part. Monokuma, the "headmaster" spoke endlessly about it yesterday. Mutual killing, he called it. We all freaked out, claiming we wouldn't ever kill our classmates. But like all promises, we have our doubts that we will keep it. We all have the thought that someone, any one of us, will betray our trusts, and, quite literally, stab us in the backs.

But, not wanting to worry myself, I get up and out of the bed I found myself in. I figured this was my dorm room now, so it's really not that bad, waking up here. I took a quick look around the room; of course, a clock was at the front of the room. I checked the time; 7:25 am, the clock read.there was also a dresser next to the bed I was just asleep on, a desk near the door, and some iron plates on the wall, of course, in place of windows, just like in the classrooms and the halls. Next to the door that led out of the room was also a door that I figured lead to a bathroom. I checked, and sure enough, it was indeed a bathroom, complete with a shower. A note on the door handle read: The bathroom doors in girls' rooms are able to be locked. We don't want some gross pervert sneaking in when a girl is bathing! Puhuhuhu, sorry boys! On the bottom corner of the note was a picture of Monokuma. I had a feeling I will definitely grow to despise Monokuma's image, if I'm not already at that point...

I entered the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My skin seemed...paler than usual, and my hair was sort of messier than normal too. My deep blue-green eyes seemed more tired than ever before, and my light blue hoodie was disheveled as well. I took a moment to adjust my clothing and to wash my face. I then brushed my hair, trying to no avail to get one ginger lock of hair to stay down, but it kept springing back up. It's been like that my entire life, but I refuse to give up on it(Despite giving up on it every morning...) I looked at myself in the mirror again and smiled a bit, trying to reassure myself. It didn't work that well, by the way. It never really does.

Deciding I've spent enough time searching my dorm room, I left, stepping into the hall. The hall was colored a deep red color, and the floors were black tile. I noticed that there were other doors across the hall, and more on the side of the hall my dorm was on. My door had a plaque with my name plastered on it. The door next to mine had Mei's name on it. Of course, the door to the other side of hers belonged to Jay. The other students also all had their own dorms. Leaving the hall, I headed for a clearing with a boring white floor and boring white walls.. I could tell this was basically a central area, as many halls branched off of it. I heard voices coming from a closed door as I stood there, so I walked up to it. A sign next to the door read "Cafeteria." I took it upon myself to enter, and I was greeted by the majority of my classmates, Takashi excluded.

Mei turned to me when I entered. "Oh there you are Aiko! I was about to go get you. We were all so worried about you... " She said with a small, comforting smile.
