The sun had nearly risen by the time I was able to settle into a final position and remain comfortable enough to let sleep overtake me. And when it did, it was too late when I realized I was only about to be tortured further.

Ana and I were five. We'd been sent to get flowers from the field behind the pack house. I'd bet her I could find the prettiest flowers and as soon as our bare feet hit the grass, we were off. Little kids' attention spans are quite short however, and it wasn't long before she'd been distracted by a beautiful red butterfly, twirling in circles as it flew around and around her. I had been distracted by her, the way her golden locks reflected the light of the morning's sun, the way her pristine white dress contrasted with the green/brown tall grass we'd run to, the smile that lit up her face and the immediate area around her.

''Lucie! I've found it!" she exclaimed and I realized she had frozen from twirling upon sighting a bunch of flowers. I realized I was about to lose my own bet but the image of her in my head was enough to lower my usual competitiveness and instead of cheating by taking the flowers she'd found, I cheered for her and marveled politely at the beautiful red poppy flowers she held in her tiny hands.

''They're so beautiful,'' I gasped, and she smiled proudly but in a moment her face scrunched in on itself as she realized something.

"I want you to take them,'' she decided and her face evened out as she came to this resolution. I was shocked to say the least. Whoever made it back with the prettiest flowers was going to get a cookie, Ana's favorite cookie, a double fudge chocolate chip cookie.

"Are-are you sure?'' I asked with shock. She nodded and thrust them into my hands.

"Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl,'' she smiled widely, without hesitation.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

The sound of my alarm nearly caused me to fly off of my bed. As it was, I did lose the majority of my blankets. And the rush of cold pushed me over the edge I'd been wavering on into full consciousness.

''Uggghhh,'' I groaned, reaching up to rub some sleep out of my eyes.

''Anabear!" a tiny voice called. I smiled sleepily as a tiny bundle burst onto my bed.

''Hey there pup,'' I smiled cheekily at the sight of my tiny brother, Sebastian, his large, cool, green eyes staring up at me from his hold around my waist.

''Sebastian!" A woman's voice rang through the halls and into my room. A face, with long graying hair and watery blue eyes, peered through the door,''There you are! We have to go get you ready for your sisters ceremony.''

After much groaning and moaning, and a promise from me that we'd watch his favorite movie tomorrow,''Happy Solstice!" He cheered and I smiled as best I could with the thought crashing down on my mind.

''Happy Solstice, Seb,'' I wished him and sighed, watching the pair leave. Time to get ready.

Moving to the mirror, I stared into the reflection. My hair was a mess, due to so much tossing and turning the previous night. I'd gotten little sleep and as a result, my eyes, which had already been darkening around the edges from my dread of this day, were quite puffy and shadowed.

I went to take a shower, taking extra time with every process I could. Finally, I was standing in front of my door, a light, grey dress had been pulled over my head and now lay on my frame quite perfectly.

I walked out of the room into the hall, staring down it at the many doors. All the faces of the Alphas and Beta's sons that I'd met in the past year or so were flying through my mind taunting me.
