TRUST
It was my first week when I started owning my responsibilities just after graduation and joined office. "Gloom spot" was the company our father inherited to us. My father Daniel had been working hard for it. He was giving his best to make it successful.
He told me that he got a friend who is very hardworking but his business had not been as successful as ours, so my brother decided to start a new business with the cooperation of his friend's company. As I was new to it, I felt better with all the decisions that my brother took.
That very week Daniel threw a party where all the high graded businessmen were invited.
"Here, my sis! Sara!" Daniel introduced me to the tall, handsome young man, probably in his mid-thirties.
"And this is Mr.Zack. The owner of Wall Series!" Daniel defined.
"Oh your friend? The one you were talking about?" I asked Daniel.
"umm... yeah!" Daniel replied.
Zack seemed to be quite different from others. He reflected the dignified personality amongst all. The way he showed up in the party impressed us a lot.
"What do u think about him? Good enough? Eh?" Daniel asked. "Quite impressive!" I whispered to Daniel.
Soon we inaugurated our new company with Wall Series. Zack worked out in a remarkable way. He introduced new strategies and new policies in a manner which gave tremendous results in just few months. The company started earning profits in millions.
We opened a common bank account on our company's name, and, only me, Daniel and Zack have the authority to draw money from it.
The three of us except being business partners became really good friends. We usually used to go out for lunch together, hangouts and have parties.
It can't be neglected; it's a common human nature. When someone is so helpful and beneficial to you, that person starts seeking special place in our lives. This special place can't be gain without "TRUST", and that what we had on Zack we trusted him a lot.
One day he told us that he got a relative who is not well and lives in Paris and it is urgent for him to leave. We didn't mind letting him go, in fact we told him that if he need any favor regarding that, we shall always be there for him.
Weeks passed by, but there was no sign of Zack. We were quite surprised at that and we tried to contact him but his number wasn't in use anymore. The whole situation was getting on our nerves. After a day or two a letter arrived from the bank which explains the withdrawal of about ten million rupees by Mr.Zack about a day ago.
"Now what does this all means?" I cried in irritation.
"We are deceived!" My brother said in disgrace.
I called the police and both of us explained them each and every thing, giving the clear description of Zack. Police assured us that they'll find him at any cost and that we shouldn't worry about it.
I still remember that time. Both of us were so tensed, we weren't able to talk to each other. It was like an electric shock that has completely insane us. We were regretting the moment when we decided to trust him and make him our business partner. Police tried their level best than there was a ray of hope. They have traced Zack's residential address, he was staying in Dubai. We made ourselves to Dubai with Police, but what we saw after reaching his apartment was beyond our expectations.
Zack's dead body. Yeah! He was dead!
"Oh God! Now what is this all about?" Daniel said in an utter confusion.
Police sent the dead body for autopsy and after a great research police was able to account his history. He was the only child of his parents who died in an accident when he was in his late teens. From then on he worked for his father's company but he wasn't able to be successful. He was watching Daniel's every move and was recording his everyday details. It was pre-planned friendship that he did with Daniel. He wanted to be a successful businessman but he wasn't able to be because he was suffering from chronic lung cancer. He got none of his relatives in contact and no family because he never married. He was in Dubai for his treatment and according to the doctors his health wasn't that progressive and therefore he couldn't make it up.
This all was going off our head, we weren't able to believe such a story existing in real. We pity Zack for his health, but, the way he chose and deceived us was wrong. He would have shared his problem with us and we would surely have helped him in anyway.
In the end, Daniel and I were left hard and dry; we suffered a lot and managed to recover our loss. We learnt a lesson that no matter how much a person appeals to you or started occupying special place in our lives never trust anyone blindly.
