The amount to which EB despises her new next-door neighbor knows no bounds. The thing is, on her "Would-Kill-For" list, road trips (#3) and riddles (#13) trump the humiliation of Darcy Williams (#26) any day. So, when some old guy goes on live television, announces his untimely death, and then proceeds to rattle off the first clue to a real-life buried treasure, it's like a dream come true. That is, until her mother bans her from the trip unless she drags along Darcy because "he's new in town, and he needs to make friends." Whatever. EB's so not splitting the treasure.
