Seven years later....

For seven years John did everything he could to protect the young girl from a life of fear, something Crow wasn't pleased about. Sure there were times where the doctor had to let Crow take over, he had too no man should be locked up in ones head, they were two different people wanting two different outcomes for the child, both should have that choice right?

Today was the day Crow was in charge and wanted to introduced his little girl to fear, something John had been stopping him from doing, but enough was enough. The girl in question went by the name of Scarlett, something Crow cleverly came up with so it would have the word 'scare' in it.

He called her name from his, what he called, office causing the young Scarlett to rush out of her room excitedly. Just his voice sparked the curiosity in her, the fact she could tell it was Crow and not John bewildered both men, they were different, two minds, but shared the closelyody, how could she tell who was who? This also helped the master of fear adore the small child in a teacher student way, not in a lovingly father way. Johnathan excepted that she was his, but Scarecrow only looked at her as a project that wasn't complete but would be in time.

She rushed through the door ,happy that she getting attention no matter how small, and stopped at the line she marked out in her head of where to stand when in the office her hands behind her back making her look like she was ready for what he was about to tell.

"Yes Mr. Scary?" She giggled out looking up at him know it wasn't her father. The man simply looked at her a small smile ghosting his face as he pointed to the chair in front of him before answering her question "Care to take a seat Miss. Crane?"

She nodded going over to the chair and climbing up on it before sitting down facing him, looking very small compared to it.

"It has come to my attention that you are getting older by the second" he continued once she had settled to which she nodded a smile plastered on her face as she listened closely.

"And your old man tells me you've wanted to see the outside world" he proceeded to get up and stand next to her to which she squealed slightly at what he said bouncing on the seat slightly as the thought of seeing what Gotham was like flashed through her mind. She had only seen it from the small window she had in the room she called a bedroom.

He looked down at her processing her reaction like she was just as mad as him before gently lifting her and walking to the door "I am going to show you what the world is really like" the young girl had no idea what was going on in his head, but a smile was still on her face as she held onto him tightly as they went to a large room.

This large room was were all the screaming came from at night, the room that kept her up at night. The smile faded away as she tried to scramble away from Crow but he held onto her tightly as he walked into the dark room.

Johnathan never let her near the room for her own safety but he couldn't do anything now, Crow had taken over, he was a man on a mission. He put her into a large chair that held her arms and legs to it as she started screaming and crying for her father, to which Crow ignored going off to get a fresh batch of fear toxin for the girl.

She continued to cry and scream as he walked over to her, needle full of toxin in his hand and an evil smirk printed on his face. He couldn't care what John was going to do after all this, he just wanted to see her scream and screaming she did.

As soon as he was arm length away he injected her with the fear toxin sensing her into a screaming fit, both from the pain from the jab and the fear toxin itself. Tears covered her cheeks as a continuous stream of water came from her eyes.

Fear clouded her vision as she saw the only person she knew die over and over again at the hand of the man dressed up like a bat, something her father told stories about. All the while Crow cackled away only seeing her reaction and not she was afraid off.

After he calmed down he finally asked her a question while still smirking like a mad man"what do you see?" To which she replied in a small voice "the man as the bat......daddy dying...."

That made him stop and stare at her almost glaring. If John was dying in her fear that meant he was dying, but what topped it off was the batman. He hated the man for all that he did, ruining his almost perfect plans. He had blocked out the child's screaming and crying to think about the batman, John soon taking over slowly.

Once John was set free from his own prison, he quickly took the child away from the chair and held her close to him, not being able to do much but hold her at that moment in time. After a few moments he noticed how she seemed to stop the screaming but continued to cry and whimper, he prayed that it was slowly stopping without the need of a reverse but knew she might need it. She was only a child.

For the rest of the night Johnathan sat with a crying Scarlett in his arms thankful that she wasn't dead. Crow had only given her a mild dose of the fear toxin, anymore and she would be dead in Johnathans arms, something he would kill Crow for if it ever happened. For once Johnathan had found something he cared more about then fear, yes he wouldn't change for the child since it was his life, but he would try to make a life for her, even if Crow got in the way.
