"In times long past a lie was told
A lie that for many pales
The lie that is as ages old:
“Dead men tell no tales”"-Excerpt from The Dead Man's Tale by Xarl

I had no idea things could drastically change for just 2 months. I didn't have a clue that the summer of 2012 would leave such a mark in my life.
I guess we all have moments like that, moments where you refuse to believe that current events are actually reality. Well, I am living that, I am living reality.
Actually, I am living the effect of the event which had happened in that particular summer. That was last year, and I remember that particular day.
I was out with Jessie. I forced her to accompany me at a local bistro that was right beneath my apartment.
------- Summer of 2012 -------
"Are you sure we should be drinking hot coffee at this piercing hot day?" She interjected as I told the waiter to bring two lattes.
"Two lattes," I repeated, looking at her with my poker face, "Iced lattes." I said the word 'iced' in a different tone for emphasis, then turned my head back to the waiter. "Thanks, that'll be all."
Jessie sighed and rolled her eyes. "So, what did you call me out for?"
"Hmm? Well, I just thought you wanted company in this find day."
She narrowed her eyes, "Nathan, you left me 6 messages acting out a murder scene. You said that a killer is after you, and the last message ended with *stab, dead*." The coffee arrived.
"Scream 3 didn't exactly go like that, sorry, just delete the message."
"What? So you called me out on a particularly good Sunday afternoon just to play tea time with you?" She said, obviously pissed.
I regularly call her out just for company, I lived alone out here at Riley's creek. When I'm not with my best friend Adam, I'm with Jessie.
"To be exact, it is coffee time. We're having coffee, not tea." Then she did something totally familiar with me, she lowered her head and narrowed her eyes, silently saying, 'you sunuvabitch', like how Lily would say at the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
"Did you know that I passed a movie date with Kyle for this?"
It was my turn to look at her, "Oh my gosh," I said, putting my hand on my chest for extra impact of insult, "I don't care."
Kyle, oh Kyle. I didn't like him, he was Jessie's boyfriend, and I really didn't like him. I don't know why I don't, I just do. I don't like him.
By the time I've pronounced the word 'care', her fist has already made contact with my lower right shoulder. "Ouch! What was that for?" I exaggerated a bit.
"That's for making me miss a 2 hour session of cuddling!" I rubbed the spot she punch, and she took a sip of her coffee.
"Well, why did you come anyway? You knew it was another scheme to get you down here. For goodness sake Jess we've known each other since pre-school."
The thing is, Jessie and I have known each other for a long time, like, a really long time. We were childhood friends, even our parents were good friends.
That's kind of why we were both enrolled at the same school, and we had the same nanny too. See, when my parents would get together with her parents, they would hire a nanny to look out for us.
We used to purposely ransack and make a mess of things just so we can watch the nanny clean it up. We were evil. I think the nanny's name was Pamela.
