My eyes opened, and last night felt like some crazy dream I can't really remember. Something about a dance, with a guy. I went over to my mirror. Wait, I think I was sad about something, I was crying, and my eyes were still a little puffy.
Sinking right back into my normal morning routine, I head downstairs and make breakfast. Flecks of bacons grease sting my arms, perfected pancakes are piled by threes onto four plates, and I step into a little spilled puddle of orange juice, which I add to my list of chores. Anastasia and Druzela are grumpy this morning, snapping at one another like they're nicking at feathers. When I come in, they smirk, as if I was a helpless carrot they're going to slice and put in a stew. I chuckle thinking this, because they don't know how to make stew, or cook, or clean, or do anything by themselves.
"Why are you so happy, Cindersmella. You didn't even get to go to the ball," Anastasia taunts.
I didn't? Hmm, I'm sure I saw them. Maybe my fairy godmother did a spell. I'm sure she did. Oh, right, they're staring at me.
"I, uh, just thought of something," I say.
Shoveling down my breakfast, I grab my chore list and head out of the room. I need some alone time to remember what happened last night.
**********************************Things started to get weird when the bubbles threw a karaoke party.
After I swept the floors of 9 rooms, I hastily dusted the China and washed the very little dishes there was. Practically thundering down the stairs of the marble room, bucket of soapy water, sponge, and mop in hand, I disregarded the fact that there was one more step, and I fell to the ground. Oddly enough, the bucket landed upright, so only 1/8 of the water plopped out of the top and over the rim, like a fountain was placed inside.
Making a rainbow motion with the mop, I spread the water, not wanting to waste the water, even if it didn't make much of a difference. I got up, and my knee started blaring pain like a siren, beep, beep, beep.
Great, I thought, now I will have to do this on the ground. Heaving a big, complaining sigh, I hefted my shoulders and continued to clean. When that got boring, and too slow, I got up on my feet, ignoring my siren knee. Grabbing the mop and soap-water bucket. I applied the soap water in every corner and wide open area, like sidewalk salt, and making the rainbow motion with my mop, making sure to spread the water everywhere.
I got my sponge and scrubbed at a rather dirty filled area. Bubbles started to spread like wild fire, growing to the size of tomatoes. A breeze blew in through the window, picking up the bubbles like baby birds catching the wind, holding back until they puff up their chest and fly away. The light from the window reflects off the bubbles like disco balls floating around in the air. One large bubble almost seemed to sing, more of a hum like an engine. At first it would have seemed like the wind, but things became more elaborate as other bubbles joined in the chorus. Smaller bubbles, alike instruments, made higher sounds the smaller they were.
They all started to hop around as if they were rabbits playing dance dance revolution. Low sounds like drums, rings like singing glasses, hums of recorders, melodies of reeds and flutes. It all sounded like a lagoon was having an orchestra concert. For a while I just sat with my eyes closed listening to the sound. Coming to my senses, I started to scrub again. One large bubble started to reflect light like a disco ball, making rainbow streaks on the walls and floor. Unexpectedly, bubbles started shooting up fast making a sound that sounded like blowing across reed pipes.
