(A/N: IK this is Jessica Jones but this whole song and video fits perfectly to Jekyll's obsession with Jessica. It's more than just out of spite to Hyde. It's a sick obsession he's had with OC from the moment he saw her)
Gracie tackled Jessica at the door, shrieking, "Aunt Jess! You're here! I knew you'd come back!"
Jessica hugged her so tightly her ribs ached.
Jefferson welcomed Belle inside with polite confusion, then turned to Jessica. "So... how was your day?"
Jessica rolled her eyes. "I quit my job today, but also helped wake Belle up. So hectic I guess?"
Jeff's brow shot up. "You quit your job with Hyde?"
She shrugged. "He said I was free to spend time with you and Gracie now. As if I was ever a prisoner. I don't know anything anymore."
Jefferson offered her and Belle a cup of tea from the kitchen. "And what happened with you Belle? Not that I mind your company, but why are you here?"
Belle took the cup and nodded with a smile in thanks to Jefferson
"I uh, well with the help of your sister my unborn son woke me up in my dream world but before he did he warned me not to believe anything else Rumple said and Jess wasn't sure how to get to your house so I took her and she invited me in. I hope that's alright? I was planning on speaking with Granny tomorrow about staying at her place until I figure something out"
"Belle, relax, stay as long as you need to it's fine. I'm honestly more surprised my sister quit the job she loved so much"
Jefferson eyed Jessica but she just shrugged
"Like I said I don't know anything anymore"
She sighed but Belle put her hand over Jessica's on the coffee table they sat at on the floor
"Let him sort his feelings out. He's got plenty of time in that cell"
Jessica looked down at her wrist, running her thumb over the silver doe charm uncertainty in her heart. Wondering if Mr. Hyde was thinking of her nearly as much as she was of him..
The house was silent.
The kind of silence only found in the witching hour — when even the shadows seemed too weary to move.
Jessica stood in the hallway of Jefferson's modest home, her bare feet barely brushing the cool wooden floor. A soft golden glow from Gracie's cracked door spilled into the corridor. She peeked in.
Gracie was sound asleep, one arm thrown over her stuffed rabbit, chest rising and falling in that slow, deep rhythm that only children knew.
Jessica exhaled quietly. Then passed the next room.
Jefferson's snores, muffled and low, drifted through the door.
The final door at the end of the hallway was ajar. Inside, Belle lay curled up beneath patchwork blankets, one hand gently resting on the slight swell of her belly. Her face, at peace.
Jessica hesitated.
Her fingers grazed the silver doe charm on her bracelet — her thumb brushing against the smooth metal like it might offer clarity.
But it didn't.
Not tonight.
She closed the front door behind her without a sound.
The moon hung full over the waters like a coin cast too high and never caught. Silver spilled over the docks in waves of reflection, and the sound of the ocean echoed with a calming hush.
Jessica sat on the edge of the weathered pier, arms looped around her knees, chin resting in thought.
She hadn't meant to walk this far — past the winding road, through the woods, and down to the sea. But her body moved with old, restless ache. A muscle memory of insomnia and longing.
She stared out across the water, the cold breeze brushing against her face.
Why did you push me away?
The words rang again and again.
And the more she thought of Hyde — his face as she'd left him, his silence, the way he didn't fight for her — the more the pit in her chest ached.
"I was never a prisoner," she whispered aloud. "So why did it still feel like being set free hurt the most?"
"Because monsters are always better at breaking chains than hearts."
Jessica's blood ran cold.
The voice behind her was as soft as silk — and twice as dangerous.
She rose slowly, not needing to turn to know it was him. But she did. And there he was, standing beneath a crooked lantern that swayed with the wind.
Dr. Jekyll.
He looked disarmingly calm, his lab coat fluttering gently around his legs, eyes twinkling with malice.
"Beautiful night," he said smoothly. "Perfect night to run into a beautiful girl."
Jessica's hand flinched. She summoned the magic instinctively, her palm flickering with crimson light — but when she cast it forward, it dispersed in a useless puff, like smoke in the wind.
Her chest seized.
The magic had no effect.
Jekyll's smile turned wolfish. "You're not the only one who knows what serum lives in the blood of a split soul. Regina's magic failed on Hyde. I simply... paid attention."
Jessica took a step back, her breathing quickening.
"Don't," she said.
He advanced.
"I've been waiting to catch you alone," he purred. "Ever since you landed here. Do you know how hard it is to find a moment when you're not surrounded by guards or pirates or that insufferable Jefferson?"
She spun to run — but Jekyll moved quicker, stepping into her path and grabbing her wrist.
Jessica shrieked, wrenching against his grip. "Let go of me!"
"Now, now," he said sweetly, gripping tighter. "You always had a flare for the dramatics. I'm just saying hello."
"You're a liar," she spat. "A sad, pathetic little man playing god with scalpels! Get off of me Jekyll!"
"I just want to talk Jessica," he sneered. "Would you stop struggling and—"
"Aye!"
The voice rang like thunder across the dock.
Jekyll's hand froze.
Jessica turned just in time to see Killian storming toward them, dark coat fluttering, cutlass in one hand, fury in his face.
"What the bloody hell are you doing, Jekyll?"
Jekyll quickly let go, raising his hands. "I only wished to see how she was adjusting! Then she tries to attack me so I caught her wrist to avoid being hit! I was defending myself!"
"You bastard! That's a lie!"
Jessica yelled angrily as she took a step closer to Killian
Killian's eyes narrowed. "From her?"
"She lies! She knows how to fight! Even with a sword!" Jekyll snapped. "She worked for Mr. Hyde — she'll always lie!"
"She quit today," Killian growled. "Or haven't you heard?"
Jekyll's face paled.
Jessica brushed herself off, fury bubbling through her like a shaken bottle.
"He's right. I did quit," she said. "But not before I helped Hyde build the serum that let him escape you! I should go back and tell him you're still stalking me you freak!"
"You won't go back," Jekyll said, trembling. "You wouldn't go back after—"
Jessica's eyes burned with fire. "Oh, I will go back. But not to serve him. And when I tell him everything that just happened...I hope I get to see the light leave your eyes when he finishes what he started."
And in a rush of blood-red smoke, she was gone.
The Things We Don't Say...
Jessica appeared in her room, the soft thud of her boots muffled by the carpet.
Belle stirred slightly in her sleep, but didn't wake.
Jessica stood still, staring at the bed.
She didn't want to wake her.
Didn't want to talk about it to Jefferson.
Didn't want to let Gracie see her like this.
She collapsed onto the edge of the window seat and stared out into the dark.
Her fingers twisted the charm on her bracelet again and again, until the chain dug into her skin.
Sleep didn't come.
And even when her eyes drifted closed, all she saw were shadows of cold fingers. The scream of a needle. The cackle of a man free of sanity.
She stayed awake until morning
