I stalked through the hall, people splitting into two groups to allow me through. When I got to my locker, I saw my best friend; Lucy.
"Hey," She called out, "I've been waiting for like-" She paused dramatically to check her phone, "10 minutes!"
I raised a brow at her. "Good morning to you too, Lucy." Lucy then moved to her locker- which happened to be right next to mine. Probably courtesy of my dad.
"Why did it take you so long to get here? Did your bike break down or sonething?" Lucy waggled her eyebrows.
I shook my head, "No, just a lot of traffic."
"Aw, your no fun! You have the body for it." She sighed. "Crap, the bell is about to ring!" Lucy yelled, running off with books in hand.
I quickly grabbed my books and followed.
The bell rang as I took my seat next to Lucy. "Shouldn't you be paying attention to class instead of texting and playing games on your phone?"
"Shouldn't you be paying attention to class instead of reading?" She responded.
"But I already know all of this already." I whined. This is what happens on the first day of school; people text, game, talk, etc.
The teacher walked in at the same time I opened my book to read. She walked towards the back of the room and plucked the book and Lucy's phone out of our hands. "I am Ms.Kahn, no phones or other distractions are allowed on my class." She then proceeded to walk to the front of the class and met all of our eyes.
Her eyes were strict... the rest of the class was afraid of what she had done.
I raised my eyes from my now empty hands to her gaze. My green eyes me her blue ones.
Lucy looked at me. "CC, don't do it."
I stood up and walked to the front of the room. Ms.Kahn stood up, staying behind her desk.
"Is there a problem, miss..."
"Brown. Yes, there is a problem." I replied.
"And that would be?" She asked.
"You taking my book." I said coldly. I started glaring at her also.
"Is there something I should know about?" My dad- the principal- came in.
"This girl won't sit down over a stupid book!" Ms.Kahn yelled. She went around the desk and walked toward him.
"Give her the book back then." My father suggested calmly.
"Fine." Ms.Kahn growled. My father didn't even hear her as he walked out.
I still mouthed "thank you" while giving him a WTF stare.
"Here," She thrust the book at me. "Go sit down before I send you down to Mr.Brown's office."
I smirked. I then turned around and walked back to my seat, opened my book and read.>>>>>-------●-------<<<<<
"That was pretty stressful, you know?" Lucy mumbled, her mouth filled with food.
"Not as much as it was cool!" Jared yelled back.
Lucy swallowed and yelled, "It was stressful to watch my best friend do that. Out of all the people in our school, how did I become your best friend?" She asked me.
"I beat up some kids that were either trying to hurt, kill, or rape you." I paused in thought, drumming my fingers against my jaw. "I still haven't figured out which one yet." I laughed.
"How is that funny?" Robert asked, frowning.
"CC has a dark sense of humor." Lucy replied.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I got up to excuse myself.
As I walked down the hallway, all I could think of was why am I getting a stomach ache? You might be curious as to why I am fretting over a little stomach ache. Well, I never- and I mean never- get a pain like this.
Suddenly I doubled over as if I was punched in the stomach. I was so close to the bathroom! I tried to get back up and when that failed, proceeded to crawl to the bathroom.
I felt like I was pushed over. When my side landed on the ground, it felt like I broke a rib or two. My back landed on the ground next. What surprised me most wad that I started coughing up blood.
"Help..." I moaned, my voice trailing off.
"Why would we help you?" A raspy voice asked. "You never helped us."
I feel into a never ending abyss of darkness.>>>>>-------●-------<<<<<
"CC, are you Ok?"
"Yeah, are you Ok?"
Too many voices greeted me. I rolled onto my back, angry they awoken me.
"Thank god your Ok!" Lucy ran up to give me a tight squeeze. "Everybody thought you were dying!"
My eyes finally opened to about 10 people- all my friends- staring intently at me.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I thought. "I will die if you keep suffocating me." I wheezed.
"Sorry!" Lucy squeaked.
"Mr.Brown to the infirmary, please." The intercom sounded. Footsteps echoed through the hall way. The door then opened to reveal my father's face.
"Cecilia, are you alright?" My father worried. "Tell me everything you remember."
When I finished explaining what had happened, everybody's faces had looks of confusion infused with curiosity about what happened.
"Are you sure that's all that happened?"
"Yes."
"It sounds like... I'm not sure." His eyes said that he did. "Jackson, when you found her what was she doing?"
"She was just lying on the ground, twitching and moaning gibberish." Jackson took a breath. "She was also screaming about something killing her from the inside- slowly- or something."
"Hello? I'm right here." I said.
"Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod!" Lucy screamed.
"What? I asked. My throat started to hurt. Something was dribbling down my chin and onto the sheet. On the white sheet there was thick, red substance. It also had a metallic taste.
Blood.
Then I started coughing up blood that seemed to stick to my throat.
My father's face moved from worry to fear. Then he suddenly struck out and hit Lucy. "You were supposed to prevent this!" He pointed at the others, "You tell nobody about this, are we clear?"
What's with my father? He's never like this...am I......dying?
Then the blood fell to the floor in loud splatters.
"What's going on?" I groaned. My head started spinning and pounding painfully against my skull.
I tried to get off the inferior cot, my dad pushed me back down.
"Stay there and rest, my angel." My father whispered.
If only I knew the real meaning of those words, nothing would be the same...
