Starlit

The snowflakes fall

starlit

upon the ground to shimmer.

The starlight seen

is that of yesterday;

nothing

but the echo, the faintest

gleamings of a far fire now expended.

So hot, the passion of a thousand suns

distant

now naught but a shimmer in snow

So cold, upon the ground.
