Prologue: "Thus Says the Lord…"
Sometimes God sends a word through familiar vessels; sometimes not. Sometimes something happens in a little room in the corner of Bethany village, involving a despised preacher with his band of unpopular followers and a little woman of little repute, yet the significance of those rustic happenings in that corner of nowhere is eternal - meant to be published till the end of time; and global - meant to be “preached in the whole world” (Matthew 26:13).
The woman of whom we here speak was a prophet with a global voice that even her own community could not hear. That was how Jesus saw her as well as her despised sacrifice of precious oil which she invested at His feet, while holier people than her called her by unkind names which they also indirectly smeared on the Master.
Sometimes, events of global magnitude pass unnoticed by the familiar friends in whose backyard they occur. That would have been my blind case, had God not used one of His own to pass me the message.
I was one of other guest speakers at an international prayer conference the speaking schedules of which were still being fine-tuned when the meeting began on the first night. I got into the cathedral and took my seat beside the leader of the prayer movement as the people were praying and worshipping, before he would come up to give the opening charge. I had hardly settled down when he told me to get ready to bring a word to the people. I had not expected that I was coming up that night. I prayed earnestly, “Lord, what would You say to Your people?” As I waited, this topic came to me, based on the theme of that meeting: “The Day You Must Not Miss.” The message outline was at once also clear in my spirit.
I had 30 minutes to deliver that word, and God’s presence was strong on His people. That same night, one of the other speakers at that conference had a word for me. He told me that the Lord had asked him to tell me to put into writing the message I had preached.
I tried to put up a protest. I did not think that it was a material for publication, and did not think that I had the time to do any writing at the moment, because of my several other urgent schedules; but then I said, “If the Lord says so, then fine.” So I gave up the objections I had already begun to ply him with. This is the book you have in your hands.
After a ride of several kilometres from another meeting in a different city that day, and having just preached in the conference that night, I was very tired when I got back to my room; but I had to start the first few sentences of the book on my laptop that night. After all, did not God say that we should “believe his prophets” and prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20)?
Although it is not usual for us to promote our books, one dares to say here that this book has been borne out of prophecy. Perhaps another sign of God’s and the Enemy’s interest in this book is the fact that, almost at its completion, the laptop got invaded by a virus, and for days, the file containing this book could no more be found. The concern was great as there was no backup copy of any kind anywhere. But, somehow, it got retrieved. It is our prayer therefore that the Inspiration that has birthed this book shall bring life and transformation to you as you read, in Jesus name. Amen.
1: A Day of Destiny
-----------------------------
There is a day in everyone’s life, which never comes twice. To miss that dayis to miss destiny. Unfortunately, that day does not usually come ringing a bell; it does not give a notice to prepare anyone; it never comes announcing itself for what it is, as the day you dare not miss.
