Chapter 6:

I felt it right away when Ian lost conciousness, my vision dimmed around the edges and I felt a bit woozy. A familiar bond works in that sense, that we know what happens to the other in some sense or another. I felt the lancing pains searing their way across my wrist. I knew what was happening. Ian was in trouble, facing off against another witch, trying to subjugate his will and aura to theirs. It was similar to the the spell I had used to make him my gaurdian. However, the pain across my wrists indicated that the circle they were using was closed with his blood. I didn't know what I had to do but I felt some sort of power welling up in me, demanding to be released. I closed my eyes and let it engulf me. Then, sweet bliss.
