Hannah sat on her bed slowly as the Nevergreen finally succumbed to the roots. Reaching over to her bedside table, she picked up her mobile phone and dialed the one number her parents had drilled into her over and over again.
Holding the phone to her ear, she breathed in deeply and glanced at the mossy roots, still probing the room for prey as the as the dial tone stopped. Putting on her cheery voice, she spoke into the mobile.
"Hello? Benjamin Greenland? The painting and its powers. They've been set free."
