Why the hell am I up this early? I could be in bed right now. My warm, soft, comfortable-
"Hey, what's up?" I was immediately pulled from my thoughts when the one and only Shayla Dodge approached me, a.k.a my best friend.
"Oh, you know, the usual. Just wishing I was home. In bed. Sleeping." I replied with a slightly irritated voice. She chuckled a little and patted me on the head. Yeah, like the way you pat a dog's head. I guess it was her way of showing she was sorry. I turned from my locker to face her and man did she look gorgeous, as usual. She was wearing a tan crop top with white skinny jeans that hugged her extremely fit -extremly skinny body. Her light brown hair was curled perfectly on the ends that made her shoulder length hair look a tad shorter. She had a small amount of natural looking eyeshadow to make her deep green eyes pop, and her lips were lightly glazed with a pretty pink lip gloss. I internally groaned wishing I was as beautiful as her.
"How the hell do you look so good every damn day?" I asked with a small smile. She blushed and waved the compliment off. She changed the subject immediately.
"Did you hear about the new students?"
"Who hasn't? Nothing happens in this freaking school without everyone hearing about it" I chuckled.
"So true." She replied with a bright smile. Even her teeth were freaking perfect. The bell rang and we made our way to first period. Shayla had Social Studies, and I, unfortunately, had Math. I took my time making my way to Mrs. Euns class and slowly but surely got there just a second before the late bell rung. I went to the back of the classroom and sat down in my assigned seat. For God's sakes. We're in high school, why can't we sit where we wanted? I thought to myself as I threw my backpack to the ground and slid down in my seat. I looked around the room to see it full of idiots. Miranda Schultz, the Co captain of the cheerleading team who couldn't tell the difference between her ass from her elbow was sitting on top of her desk admiring herself in the little pocket mirror she had. Also, who could forget Michael Burray, the one who set fire in the guys locker room because he thought it'd be funny. I scanned the room for more kids I hated when I saw an unfamiliar one, an extremely hot, unfamiliar one. He was slouched down in his chair with his arms crossed. Obviously enjoying the wonderful, talented, douchebags around us. Not. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt and ripped blue jeans with a pair of white Converse to top it off. He had light brown hair that had a slight touch of blonde highlights that were faded in the front where he spiked up his hair.
When Mrs. Eun arrived she set her stuff down and cleared her throat in a attempt to get everyone to shut the hell up. It didn't work that good. Eventually everyone quieted down when she threatened to give detention.
"Now that I have everyone's attention I'd like to announce something, some of you might have already met him. But I wanted to make sure he felt welcomed. For those of you who don't know we have a new student, his name is Grayson Dolan." Grayson who? I thought to myself. Mrs. Eun signaled the guy in the white shirt to stand up and come to the front of the classroom where she was. I couldn't help but stare at the poor guy, he's lucky his looks didn't melt all the girls in the class. And his jawline, wow. Mrs. Eun began to speak again.
"Well, so Grayson doesn't feel like he's the only one put on the spotlight, I want everyone to stand up and say their full name and something they like." Ughhh why do you have to do this Mrs. Eun? Of course Miranda was more than willing to be the first person to stand up and talk about herself.
"My name is Miranda Schultz and I'm the Co captain of the cheerleading team. I love cheerleading. It's like. The best." She said in her glass shattering voice. Mrs. Eun had to tell her to shut it so we could hear the next person. This happened for quite awhile and honestly I totally zoned out. Until my name was called.
"Earth to Laney." Mrs. Eun said with a tight smile.
"What? Oh yeah." I said while standing up, "my name is Laney Porter and I hate Math." I blurted out quickly and sat down until Mrs. Eun told me I was supposed to say something I like not hate. I lazily stood up again and spoke.
"I like not being in math class." I said with an unsure smile and the entire class had a fit of giggles. Even Grayson smiled a little. Although Mrs. Eun didn't find it quite as amusing. She gave me a stern smile and continued to the next person. I observed Grayson scanning the room- probably looking for people to get to know- when he made eye contact with me for about 0.1 of a second. It was quite magical if you ask me. I quickly looked away and stared at my desk like a fool.
After everyone said there names and what they liked Mrs. Eun began the lesson of the day and I soon drifted to sleep. The class was pain achingly slow and when the bell rang all the kids jumped up to leave. I wiped off any extra drool from my face and gathered my stuff. I was about to walk out the door when I heard my name being called, it was Mrs. Eun. I turned around to see she was at her desk with Grayson. I slowly walked over to her desk.
"What's up?" I said in a casual voice.
"Well, I'm sorry to put this so bluntly, but your grade in here isn't exactly an A, in fact it's a c-, and Grayson here is known to get great grades in math. So I was hoping I could sit him next to you as a way to help you with some of our class work. I already asked him and he was fine with it, how does that sound Laney?" She asked with a hopeful smile. I opened my mouth to speak but paused to make it seem like I was thinking about it. "Sure, whatever could help me" I said with an awkward smile.
"Oh good, who knows you guys could be great friends." Mrs. Eun squealed. I looked at Grayson who also gave an awkward smile. I turned to leave for second period grining ear to ear. Hey, I couldn't help it I just got the news that I get to sit by the hot new guy. I knew my bad grades would come in handy one day.
