Now seven years passed, after the first seventh day, in the which the man and his wife lived a life which cannot be described for the joy of it, for they walked and they spoke with the Word of God face to face, and they had a fellowship with Him that even we of the Cherubim cannot comprehend.

And at the end of the seven years I began to notice a change come over my older brother. He became obsessed with his calculations and examinations of everything from the heaven above to the earth beneath. He spent hours walking up and down among the stones of fire. He took the Book that had been written by the hand of the Word of God from the place where the man and his wife kept it and had examined it intimately to the point where he quoted it constantly under his breath until it became a chant to him. I often saw him stamping his hooves and scratching his golden heads with his razor talons. Trying to understand something.

Now my brother had many jobs, the operation of which I still do not understand fully, but he covered the very throne of the Word of God, but when the Word walked in the Garden with the man and his wife, my brother was free to explore the heavens and the earth, and would take his place once again each time that the Word returned.

I often heard him in prayer making petitions for the knowledge of many things, to which he often received but few answers, for like the Good Teacher that the Word is, He often sent him back to the heavens and to the earth and to asking him questions about the Book. And for the most part my brother was a good student. He made his observations and calculated the sum and returned often finding that he had only received a small part of the question he was seeking the answer too. It was at that time that I think that my brother began to examine himself and his place in the creation of the Word.

His observation was that he was beautiful, and it was true. He was glorious and majestic and powerful, and it was true. There was nothing in the heaven above or in the earth beneath or in any part of the creation of the Word which could compare with the height of the perfection of the sum of all that the Word had made.

But instead of this causing him to fall before the Word in gratefulness that He would bestow such magnificence upon him and draw others to the worship of the Word, as he had done so magnificently at times prior to this revelation, my brother's heart was lifted up within him, and he began to seek out recognition of himself in the creation around him. And yet no matter how far he searched he did not find any part of creation that acknowledged his magnificence.

Thus the pinnacle of creative genius became frustrated in all his calculations as he found the sum ever broadening, but following each line of the calculation, everything seemed to be pointing back to the object of the Word's favored attention.

Mankind. For Mankind alone was made in the Image of the Word.

They were the ones for whom the Word of God had done all this? They who were so simple, were made in the Image of God?

Now my brother turned all his attentions to Mankind. He wanted to know everything about them, but it was hard to get them alone for when he was not covering the throne of the Word they were with the Word, so like the rest of us He was forced to watch and observe them from a distance, and that is when he came upon a discovery.

Like the void in which the heavens and the earth were made, there was also a void within the innermost part of Mankind and whenever they were away from the Word that void expanded yet a little but whenever the Word came to walk with them that void was filled.

Slowly a plan began to form within him.

Now he became much more interested in calculations.
