My Avid Fan,
I hope that the first instalment of Emmy-Pooh and the Things from Uranus found you in good health and that it was of some amusement to you. I must warn you that the laughter will soon stop however, when Emmy-Pooh meets Doctor Gore, a short-sighted collector of memorabilia...
...but you may read about this later...
I am currently working very hard on the fourth chapter and also re-writing chapters two & three so that they may meet your approval, which I know is a difficult task – your Uncle has told me how hard you are to please.
Also, I find writing so many words rather taxing at my advanced age. It is a strain on my eyes and heart. I only hope that I am able to complete this most astounding yet highly unlikely tale before I pass on to the next life.
I must apologise for the amount of long words in the manuscript, but I tend to forget shorter words, as some of them are small enough to fall through the holes in my mind. I never use 5 letters when 12 will do. This is why, for example, I would describe a small child as 'obstreperous' instead of, erm, thingamajig, hmm, what is it now...
...Oh dear, the less syllabic version has slipped my mind. Perhaps you could look up 'obstreperous' in the dictionary and find out what I'm talking about? Unfortunately I appear to have misplaced my copy and I am lost without it.
Now I am afraid I must cut short this correspondence and go and look for my dictionary. I shall not rest until it is found.
I wish you well and shall send the second chapter soon.
Yours faithfully,
Bilious Woods
