We Sail On
We fly through the wind,
The curtains of rain slap us,
The clouds spit lightning at us,
The waves crash against us,
The whitecaps overturn us,
The salty water chokes us,
We sail on.
The wind has subsided,
The rain begins to fall lightly,
The violent waves turn to a gentle rocking,
The sun come to warm us,
As the world slows around us,
We sail on.
We see it upon the horizon,
Something we have dread,
Something that leaves you dead,
We sail with a purpose,
To make to our home,
And so,
We sail on.
Our backs our broken,
Our hearts have stopped,
Our legs turned to jelly,
Until we see, the shore,
Revitalized by hope,
We sail on.
As we reach our home,
Practically in a weep,
We know, we can finally sleep,
For the storm is behind us,
until the next week when we leave port,
We sail on, into the storm.
