It was a normal Saturday when I received a call from the Department of Police of Virginia, United States. They wanted me to enter as their new forensic social worker, considering my excellent job here in Puerto Rico they said that I was what they were looking for with the crime crisis. It was excellent news for me and my family. I still live with my mom and my brother Carlos but I always wanted a place of my own. After an hour my best friend, Karelee called me and told me she also was called by the Department of Virginia. We were called to be partners in the Department, it's awesome how two best friends were called to be partners in the same job, at the same place. We had to leave Puerto Rico in a week and I had to do all the papers of my partner and I's new apartment. A week passed, we were saying all the good byes to our families and wishing ourselves good luck.
Is a new beginning to our professional career and our own life's, we moved to the United States. "I can't believe we are about to start to work in the U.S. with a payment of $20 dollars an hour!" Karelee said. "Yeah, 'el mundo da muchas vueltas' this is a great opportunity" I reply. Our conversation went all around the opportunity of the job and our apartment. As also I talk about how sexy were the guys at Virginia, is a topic I never forget. "Look Karelee, men's are something we can't forget to look! Besides, we are too occupied with the job; we are only going to have a few adventures, nothing serious". I smiled to her and she gave me a smile. "You always come with the topic. You are a dirty girl Melissa, when you're going to change?" "Never sweetie" I smile. After a few hours we were at the airport of Virginia.
"We're here Melissa! I. Can. Not. Believe. It" Karelee said really excited. "Calm down girl because this is just the start of our new adventure." After getting our bags a man took us to our new home.
After 2 hours we were there. I was as excited as Karelee, we were jumping and screaming of how beautiful the apartment was, we choose very well. We enter and the first thing we see is a wonderful living room with a huge couch. Then there was the kitchen with an elegant stove, packed with everything we need. Then there was a corridor that takes us to each other's rooms and at the end the bathroom. Mine was a medium sized room with a queen bed. I didn't saw Karelee's but by the look in her face I know it was beautiful. It was dinner time and we decided to stay at home and talk about the decorations of the house. "Hey why don't we decorate it of Rasta? You know Bob Marley type" Karelee suggested. "Ay no sé, is too much for a house don't you think? It makes me feel like a smoker". "Que party pooper eres". "Que tal de Paris, we love Paris!" "Yes! Is a great idea, the city of love". We talked the whole dinner and later we watched a movie. After the movie we both fall asleep in the couch.
