The Story of Pod the Pumpkin

My life began as a tiny seed, taken from my mother. I was born at 'Billy Bob Pumpkin Farm', in the town of Seedington, on April the 21st 2008.

Billy Bob's daughter, Samantha, (Sam for short) planted me. Sam was like an angel with a prize-winning smile that lighted up my heart.

As I grew up, I really grew or as Sam says 'the biggest things come in small packages' or as I like to say 'the biggest pumpkins come from small seeds'. All the other pumpkins looked up to me, literally! I was one of the three seeds planted and cared for by the hand of Sam. There were also Billy and Bob, but I was always her favourite.

In fact I was popular with everyone but Billy Bob senior, the pumpkin farmer. He was JEALOUS! Everyone who came to the farm had to comment on how big I was. They would always ask Billy Bob what his secret was. But every time my beautiful Sam would chip in and say: "That's MY pumpkin. His name is Pod. Isn't he handsome?" And every time she said that, Billy Bob went as green as an un-ripe pumpkin with envy! He tried everything to get rid of me.

Finally, one night, when Sam and I were sleeping, he pulled up and un-rooted me. I felt a howl of pain rush through my body. He dropped me into a cardboard box, which he knew was only two inches bigger than me. I was worrying for so long that night not only about myself but also about Sam. How could I live without her? The following morning Sam came to get her boots so that she could water me but instead she found me in the box, next to her boots. She couldn't take me out or Billy Bob would know she had done it. So she gave me a quilt, pillow and a teddy (called tiny). She gave me a kiss-on-the-nose-for-luck, which would last me forever.

The next day Billy Bob picked me up (without looking in the box) and loaded me on to a truck. I was uncomfortable the whole way, despite the quilt and pillow. The next day I found myself on a shelf in 'Marks And Spencer's' whatever that was. Lots of kids surrounding me wanting to buy me with not-so-keen parents. The following day I made a break for it, shuffling across the shelf.

Just then a little girl pointed at me, as I was too big for her to pick up, and begged her mum to buy me. She looked kind of like Sam - except she was blonde. After two minuets of begging her mum gave in. She could have me, but only if she tidied her room everyday, did well in school, kissed her grandma goodbye, and bought me with her own pocket money.

At her house on Teddy Road, she took me to her bedroom and put me in her huge playhouse, which was going to be my home.

The following day was Halloween and I got lots of prizes for being the: biggest, prettiest, fattest and all round best pumpkin at her school disco! She even shared the prizes with me - chocolate (yum!). The school disco ended too late for trick or treating, but we had enough sweets already.

After two weeks I got pumpkin rot, the worst disease for a pumpkin to get. She tried EVERYTHING, including human medicine, which tasted vile!

Eventually, when the little girl was at school, her mum wrenched me out of the playhouse, and flung me into the bin.

That falling sensation I had felt before.

As a seedling as Sam dropped me into the ground.

And the blackness as Sam had patted the soil over my head.

Hi, thanks for reading :)

Now your probably thinking 'what is this randomness?', but this was something I found in my old computer documents from when I was about 10 years old. We had been asked to get into pairs, and write a story about a pumpkin, as a Halloweenie thing to do. So this story was a joint effort .

If there are parts that don't make much sense, then that's because I didn't edit it, and just left it as the original story. I thought it was cute, so I uploaded it.

Thanks again,
