I've always been the outcast, the black sheep, the unnoticed. Even my parents didn't notice I was there, the only time they ever noticed me is if they needed a punching bag. I had one friend, Luke Balder. The other students at school would bump into me or play mean pranks on me. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I had curly jet black hair and bright green eyes.
I softly placed my feet on the ground, getting out of my worn out bed. Today was Tuesday, meaning we had an assembly at school. I trudged my way to my bathroom and rubbed my eyes, trying to rub out the tiredness. Much to my disappointment, it didn't work. I hopped in the shower letting the warm water run over my body and my cuts from the night before. I rubbed the extra makeup off my face and dropped the wash cloth onto the bottom of the shower. Getting out, I wrapped a towel around my pale body and looked in the mirror.
I hated how I looked, I hate everything about myself. My lips were to full, my nose was to small, my eyes were big, my boobs were small, my butt was to big, and my hips were to big. I sighed and grabbed my eyeliner deciding to to a winged looked today. I put on mascara then slipped into my Papa Roach shirt and white ripped skinny jeans. Taking one last look at myself, I left my bathroom slipping on my shoes and nearly tripping while bouncing up and down.
My parents were still asleep, which gave me a good chance to sneak out before they noticed. I grabbed my bag and slipped out the front door. They drank all night and slept all day. I pulled my beanie out of my bag and slipped it over my head. A few cars were passing by me as I slowly walked to school, obviously in no hurry to get there. Luke always showed up in third hour, late.
It was raining lightly and I wrapped my arms around myself, cursing out loud for not bringing my hoodie. I heard a car honk at me and I snapped my head in the direction. It was Luke in his red jeep. He pulled up beside me and opened the door. "Get in," he had worry on his face and I sighed getting in. Instantly I was wrapped in heat. "What were you thinking walking in the rain?" he kept his eyes on the road. "Better than being at home," my voice came out as a mumble but he heard me.
The school came into view and I snapped my head towards him. He can't be going to school early, that's impossible, it's not in his nature. I looked at him like he had a second head growing out of his neck. He sighed and looked at me after parking in a spot, "the school called my mom, I can't be late anymore." Nodding once I got out and looked around the parking lot. A few girls were snickering and one looked at me then whispered to another one. A blush crept onto my cheeks and I dropped my gaze down to the ground.
Luke glared at them and grabbed my arm, dragging me into the school and to our lockers. I opened my locker and got my chemistry book throwing it into my bag. "You shouldn't let people push you around, Vay." I knew he was right but it's always been like this and it always will be like this. I kept silent and let him rant about how it's not fair that the kids here get away with everything. Rolling my eyes, I closed my locker and started walking to class. He was hot on my trail and still ranting.
I pushed the door open and took my seat in the back of the classroom. Other students began pouring in. Then they walked in. They quickly noticed me and Samantha sat on my desk flipping her fake blonde hair over her shoulder. "Hey loser, where's my paper?" Shit, I forgot about it. My body started shaking in fear of what she should do. She scuffed and got up then grabbed my bag pouring all my contents onto the floor. She snatched up my done essay and smirked, "yours will have to do." She stalked off with her posse behind her. The clicking of her heels gave me a headache.
I got up and squatted down picking up my papers stuffing them into my bag. One more year, Vay, just one year. Sitting back down, I placed my head onto my desk crossing my arms in front of me. I heard someone sit beside me and my eyes snapped open. The person wore a black hoodie so I couldn't see their face. Luke eyed the person beside me then shot me a look. I shook my head to his unspoken question and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Mr.Way walked into the classroom and his eyes darted to the new student. "No hoods allowed in school," his voice was filled with agitation and his face went red.
Don't get me wrong, Grant Way wasn't an old mean guy. He was in his mid twenties but needed an attitude adjustment. His hair was slick black and had bright blue eyes that most the girls swooned over. The person next to me pulled down their hood, or I should say the guy. His hair was black and short, from here it looked like his lip was busted open but you could see a scar on his cheek right under his left eye. Without thinking I reached out and brushed my fingers along the scar. I noticed his body tense up and his head snapped towards me, I'm surprised he didn't get whiplash.
His dark blue eyes harden as he looked at me. I shrunk back in my seat and pulled my beanie down more trying to hide my face. Out of the corner of my eye he tilted his head and his eyes seemed to soften. "I'm Cain Morgan, he stretched his hand out and I slide my hand into his shaking it, "Vay, Vay Braxton." He smiled showing off two rows of perfect white teeth. I quickly returned his smile and paid attention to Mr.Way, I was already failing his class, thanks to Samantha. I couldn't really pay attention with Luke staring at Cain like he wanted to punch him in the face.
Soon enough the bell rung and Samantha stalked her way up to Cain, puffing her chest up and nearly into his face. WIthout a second thought he pushed her to the side and started walking with Luke and I. Luke kept staring at Cain, shooting daggers at him and Cain kept smirking at him. I stopped dead in the hall and turned around looking at the both of them. "Someone wanna explain to me why you two seem to have an issue with eachother?," Luke looked down at the ground and Cain rolled his eyes then looked at me and his smirk dropped. Neither of them said anything. "Fucking spill or sit by yourselves at lunch," by this point my body was beginning to shake and my voice was raising.
Taking a deep breath, I hitched my bag higher onto my shoulder and turned around walking away. Knowing Luke he was still standing there looking at the ground like an idiot. A hand wrapped around my arm and spun me around making me crash into a hard chest. I could feel the outline of a six pack and quickly stepped back blushing. My eyes snapped up and met Cain's dark blue eyes. His face was red and he let my arm go, "If you want to know so badly then meet me at my house after school." WIthout another word he stomped off. He actually looked like a six year old who didn't get his way.
I rolled my eyes and walked into art class. Mrs.Roberts smiled up at me from her eseal and wiped her paint stained hands on her pants. A couple minutes the bell rung and she began talking. Today we were suppose to draw out favorite flower or rose. I quickly pulled out my sketch book and a few pencils and began drawing a tropicana rose. As I was shading the petals, Mrs.Roberts came up behind me causing me to jump. She looked at my drawing and smiled, "you're one of my best drawers, Ms.Braxton."
A blush crawled it's way up my neck and to my cheeks. "Th-thank you." Clearing my throat, I went back to working on my drawing. Once I was satsified I signed my name at the bottom and put the date. Gathering my things back up and into my bag, I slung my bag over my shoulder and pushed my way through the door. I stepped into the lunch room and took notice of all the people already there. I spotted Luke and sat next to him. "I don't want you around Cain anymore," his voice held seriousness which made me angry. Standing up, I faced him, "what's your damn problem with him, huh?" I didn't bother keeping my voice down and soon enough everyone was staring at us. He didn't even bother looking at me.
Feeling outragged, I walked out of the lunch room walking straight into a familiar hard chest. My eyes snapped up to his and he had that cocky smirk plastered on his face. "What?" I was at my snapping point. His smirk dropped and his eyes narrowed, obviously not liking my attitude towards him. Well, personally right now he can bite my ass. I quickly shoved him out of the way intending on stomping off, but he had other plans. He gripped my face making me look up at him and the only thought in my mind was 'please don't hit me.' Tears were welling up in my eyes and he seemed to notice as his grip loosened.
"Kitten, what's wrong?"
