Beyond the Lights:
There was a blinding a light as I slowly stuck out my head. I closed my eyes, hoping to shield my vision from the horrid light. I blinked quickly, petrified that if I opened them I would go blind. I slowly retreated back into the barn and sat up against the door. What is going on? why cant I remember anything? what am I, who am I? My mind was beginning to be overwhelmed with all these question running through it. I became dizzy and put my head between my knees and started to take in slow even breaths. Just calm down and take things slowly, first step we should make is get used to our surrounding's. I told myself this in hope of reassuring my faith.
I stood in the middle of the barn with very unsteady legs, so far I found out that; I woke up in that corner, which is oddly, the cleanest spot in the barn, even with all the mud, dirt, and blood on me. I walked carefully to the spot and looked around to see if I can find any answers to who or where I am. Just what I thought, no evidence. I sat there, and looked around, the light beyond the door was fading. I figured that it would be more tolerable when its gone. I ripped a piece of cloth from my shirt and slowly but very gently wrapped the gash on my left arm. I looked at every inch of the barn and found a worn out old jacket, I slipped it on so I wouldn't be so chilled if it got colder. The jacket was twice the size of my shirt and my hands hung short within the sleeves, the oder, oh my word, took a lot to get used to. It was a bile foul smelling oder that made you want to wish you were sick and so stuffed you that you couldn't smell anything. I had to get used to it, or I would freeze later on, I zipped it up, my strength slowly building as I stepped out into the middle of the barn and looked at the now soften glow of the light beyond the door, I took a few more breaths hoping that they would not be my last. I walked to the door once more and peered out through a hole, only to see nothing, it was absolutely nothing as if something was blocking it. I sighed and stepped back, I looked at the door for a few seconds and pushed it open. My eyes did not sting, did not burn, and I did not go blind, what was before my eyes was an indescribable sight. Before me there was a old house, the light blue paint and wood both chipping off as it aged, there were beautiful full lushes trees, a deep green and the trunk a dark brown, they looked so full of life. I continued to look around, the sky a deep blue with tiny little lights in it, as I walked closer to the house and cautiously reached out and touched the wood, it felt warm and brittle, it was nice. I rounded the house and looked past it, a shadow moved across the way, I immediately shot behind the house and flatten against the warm wood, my heart beating fast and my legs slightly shaking. What do I do? What do I do?.. I was panicking. I listened for sounds, of anything; a 'chirp chirp', I looked for the sound and found a little moment in the tree above me, a odd creature open what i supposed was a mouth and I heard another 'chirp chirp'. I looked at the creature and made the same 'Chirp Chirp', sound back, it floated away toward the sky and I watched at it got further away. I felt sad because of its departure was so soon, for what reason I don't know. I heard another sound that I couldn't find, I heard it again and looked around, nowhere in sight, I heard it again but this time it was right behind me. I swallowed hard and tried not to scream, or run, the thought of running made my knees buckle. I heard a shuffle and another breath release other than my own. This scared me, but what happened next terrified me.
A voice said, "Raise your hands and turn around slowly." I was mortified of this sound, scared and confused, I turned around slowly with my head down and my eyes closed. The voice spoke again, "Lift your head and look straight at me." The voice was deep and had a gently kindness to it, but the harshness it spoke the past few sentences would've hid any notion of that kindness. I kept my eyes low and my head down as well, do I dare to look up and see a frightening sight? Do I risk death for a little peek? I couldn't decide, my legs started to shake and my heart thundered loudly in my chest, I was sure the voice could hear it. "lift your head miss, and look at me right now," the voice sounded impatient and aggressive. I had no choice but to do as it was told, I slowly lifted my head, my arm beginning to be shake from keeping them in the air for so long, I could feel them about to give out. As I swallowed my fear I lifted my eyes to what was in front of me.
I looked up to see a dark hole, with a faint smell coming from the opening, I looked passed the hole and up what looked like a tube and found fingers, as I thought that, my arms gave way and fell to my side in a rush. From out of the hole I heard a slight click. My already buckling knees felt like a 6.5 earthquake throughout my body. I looked passed the fingers and to a face, the face however did not match the angry and aggressive voice that had spoken earlier. No the face was to kind and gentle to belong to that voice. I looked into a pair of dark chocolate brown eyes and saw love, not a love for another, but love of life. The finger that held the hole thingy, lowered and the face looked different, softer then it had before, a gentle smile broke the sternness of the one before, I suddenly collapsed onto the ground. The fingers that held the hole, laid the hole down and came after me. I quickly backed away from them and curled into a ball. "Please, do not be afraid of me, I will not hurt you." the voice said again, with nothing but care. I continued to back up, until my back hit the tree and I looked through my tangled and damp hair at the face with sadness in it now. "please miss, let me help you." the face said and inched its way closer and closer, I looked at the fingers just inches from me, my heart quickened. I had a feeling that I should let the face help, so I did. The fingers that griped the hole roughly, wrapped around my shoulders and legs gently with a soft touch, as they lifted me off the ground the feeling of peace washed over me, it wasn't as if I was a threat or a dead body, but as if I was a feather and all the fingers wanted was to hold me closer, the feeling I felt was as if I was floating. As I was being carried toward the house, I rested my head on the shoulder of the face and closed my eyes, I felt the sensation of warmth and softness around my body and wanted to get closer to the source, so I huddled closer to what it was and felt it wrap closer as well, this pleased me and I fell asleep. As sleep overtook me I dreamed of a dark and damp place, the colors where faded and dull, the light only from a candle, I stepped closer to what looked like a doorway, but as I got closer the door got further, my pace quickened, I was now in a jog, then a run, then a full on sprint, the door seemed like my only way for a life, I wanted that life, I wished for that life, I longed for that life, I ran for the door as if I didn't have or get that life, the life that was before me, it would be gone forever.
I awoke dazed and confused, again the feeling i had earlier. I was beginning to get annoyed with this feeling, i hate not knowing what has happened. I sat up on what looked to me like a cloud, but in the end turned out to be a bed. As my vision began to focus, it shifted from the bed to a big piece of wood that had shiny circles on it, my gaze went to what i think is a door but i wasn't completely sure, a knock on the long wood told me that something hit it, another hit came and then a small but hushed voice came after it, "Excuse me miss, are you up?" That voice where have i herd it before?.. Oh right the one face that held the hole thingy. "may i enter?" the voice said after i didn't answer. The big piece of wood opened and i shrank back into the bed feeling as if i was going to get swallowed by it. But it didn't swallow me, just took the force that i was giving it. I looked at what, no who had spoken to me, the face, i remember the face; does the face have a name? "Miss i don't mean to scare or frighten you, i just want to help you. I bandaged your arm because it was getting infected, i hope you don't mind." the voice said as it carried what looked like a tray in with it. "My name is Alex Johnson, and if you are uncertain of what i am, i am a male and of organic life, I'm human." The human male extended the fingers to me as if he was going to give me something. I did not reach for it, just stared at it; his shirt was neat and pressed and he had a tie on, his pants were clean and his shoes so shiny. "I hope you like oat-meal." He sat the tray down; which consisted of a bowl full of lumps and a silver spoon, a glass of orange stuff, and a white piece of paper. He looked at me, "well aren't you going to eat?", He nodded toward the tray and i had no clue what to do, i don't even know if I remember how to eat. I stared at the tray and my stomach growled at me, he laughed at the sound i supposed. "what your name?" he asked seeing as i was not eating. He pressed on, "where you from?", "how old are you?", "whats your favorite color, type of music, food, and Species." His lips i thought were moving faster then i hear the word coming out, i covered my ears and slowly rocked back and forth, he stopped involuntarily and asked me one more question. "Do you remember anything?"..this however caught me off guard as if he was reading my mind.."how does he know that i can't remember a thing?"..
