"Bloody books." James muttered. Dumping his books on a bench in the courtyard. He watched a girl, in her first year, with red hair and freckles, just like her mother, tie a small roll of parchment to his owl. "Lily! What are you doing with Penelope?"

"Sending mummy a message, I promised I would." She turned around, her red hair blowing in the wind that ran through the Hogwarts grounds. Gathering her books as well, she sat down next to her brother. "Why aren't you at lunch?"

"Not hungry." James grunted back.

"Hey guys."

"Albus? Not hungry either?" Lily asked, bemused.

"Nahhh, starving, I was just a little late going to the Great Hall. You coming Lily?""

"Sure, big brother! Have you seen Rose?"

"She's probably already eating, get a move on!"

"Okay, okay, I'm coming!" Lily gathered her books and turned to her eldest brother: "You coming James?"

He was about to say no when a picture of the Great Hall, it's tables groaning with food of every kind, came into his head. He got up abruptly. "Are you kidding, I'm starving, let's go!"

Lily rolled her eyes.

As they entered the great hall, Lily spotted Rose.

"Rose!" She waved. Then frowned. "Hmmmm, she can't see me." Lily ran over to where the  Rose was seated.

James looked over at Albus, bored. He began to walk away from the scene, but Albus grabbed the back of his robes.

"Oh no you don't!" He said, "you're eating with your sister and me."

"And I." He corrected.

"Jeez, James, what's gotten into you? Oh, I know, you had history."

James looked completly shocked. "Since when have you been able to read minds? Anyway, Proffesor Binns is the most boring teacher that ever existed, I got detention for falling asleep! I hope he doesn't lecture me about Ragnuk The Whatever, I'm going to get detention in detention!"

"Hey, our mum and dad had him when they were here and they never got detention from him. What were you doing that made the old ghost get so riled up?"

"Uhhh... nothing."

"Tell me! I want to know." A devilish grin lit his face, as he leaned forward.

James smiled mischeviously. "I lit some Wildfire Whiz Bangs from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. Ah, you should have seen it Albus, it was beautiful! Then proffesor McGonagall came and got rid of it all. Alas, she knew the twins to well."

Albus roared with laughter. "It must be what the whole school's talking about! The school will mss you big brother..."

They strolled down to the table where Lily and Rose were in coversaton.

"How has your first year been at Hogwarts?" Asked Rose, who was currently in her second year. She had a light salad on her plate.

"It's been so exciting! Proffesor Longbottom is really nice, he was best friends wth our parents after all. Proffesor Binns is a bore,  swear I could have a party right under his nose, while he lows through every single goblin war the exists! The school is so big, and it's really new and exciting. My favorite class would definetly be Transfiguration. And I love my tabby, Bow." Lily said, quite enthusiastically.

James feigned vomiting. "Why did you name your stupid cat that?"

Lily folded her arms crossly. "Because I wanted to, you should be lucky I don't have Crookshanks, Hermione wanted to lend him to me for the year!"

Victoire giggled. "Come on, Crookshanks isn't that bad."

"What?" Albus said. "You serious? That twisted furball attacked me!"

"Maybe he thought that rediculous grey hat you had on was a mouse." Lily giggled.

Albus, coming up with no defense, grunted and ate his potatoes in silence.

When the end of lunch came,  Rose parted with a wave, walking to her Defense Against The Dark Arts class. Proffesor Beety was teaching them about boggarts. She remembered her father took on a boggart once, in the form of a spider. Proffesor Beet interrupted her thoughts.

"Ready now, Rose? Remember what I said. One, two, three!"

He opened the shaking old wardrobe the boggart inhabited, the boggart twisted and turned into the shape of... a lion? It's beautiful flowing main was a river of gold, and his soft forest green eyes made Rose want to hug it. A lion, surely, could not be her worst fear? And especially this one, who was so beautiful and maginificent? Then the lion began to distort into... a beautiful woman. She had pale skin and beet red lips. She would have been quite lovely if it weren't for her eyes. The were stone cold and forbidding, causing an icy chill to settle in the warm July room. She set her sights on Rose, who fell back. She raised her wand, and with trembling lips, she uttered the words.

"R-ridikilus."

The icy woman now wore a clowns nose and makeup, but no laughter bubbled from the crowd of students as it vanished. There were whispers and odd looks. She looked around at the room, quickly resumng her seat at her desk. The silence was broken by proffesor Beet's rumbling voice..

"Weasley, please stay with me after class."

"I swear guys, I've never seen anything like it before!"

The friends were in the Gryffindor common room, all homework forgotten.

"You said it was a lion?" Asked James.

"Yes! Then it just turned into a-a scary creepy lady or something..."

Albus punched the air with his fist. "Yes! Finally, something excitng happens!"

"It's no joke, Albus, Proffesor Beet was very concerned, he even took me to the Headistress."

"What? He never takes anything up with the headmistress!" Said a voice behind Rose.

"Hugo! How long have you been here?"

"Long enough to know what's up, big sis." Hugo, like Lily, was also attending his first year at Hogwarts.

"I don't think it's much of a problem," Lily butted in, "I mean, it's a boggart, those things are unpredictable, and grown ups are sucj worry warts, I'll bet it's nothing."

"Way to spoil the fun, Lily." James groaned.

"Anyway," Hugo interrupted, "you were talking about the headmistress...?"

"Yeah, well she asked me a bunch of questions--"

"What kind of questions?" Interrupted Hugo.

"Hugo, stop interrupting me! Anyways, she asked me if I've seen it before or recognized any special characteristics and stuff. Then she sent a patronus to the head of the Auror's-"

"Lily's, James' and Albus' dad!" Interrupted Hugo again."

"Yes," said Rose impatiently, "dad came! Yours didn't though." She nodded at Lily, James, and Albus.

"Probably too busy with work." Said James rather proudly

"Well," Lily got up from her poofy red chair, "I'm going to bed, coming Rose?"

"Yeah." She got up as well, stowng parchment and qull in her book bag.

As they climbed the stairs to the girls' dormitary.

"Lily, in truth, I'm actually pretty freaked about what happened today."

Lily smiled. "It's okay, everythng will be fine, kay?"

"Okay." Those were the last words she uttered in the sleepless night she had.
