"Sweetie, we're here." Mum said in her motherly tone. "Do I have to stay here? Why can't I follow you?" I whined.
"Come on, now, Soojung. You still need to go to school and plus, you only have a few more months until you graduate." I couldn't help but scowl at the mention of school. I had always hated school since preschool, maybe it's weird saying it, considering I'm a straight A+ student. Mum got out the car and went around it, then she opened the passenger door and dragged me out.
"Omma..."
"If you keep whining like a little girl, you'll never be able to get a boyfriend," Mum threatened and I glared at her. I swear, this woman -whom I call my mother- likes to tease me non-stop. "Geez, mum. I'm only 17, not 21."'
"Welcome, madam Sookyung," a man in a suit -I assume he's the butler- bowed at my mother. "Oh, silly. Call me Sookyung only." How does he know my mother's name? Weird.
Before the butler could reply, a lady who looked like she was in her forties came out, a stunning sight. She may have wrinkles when she smiles but still looks like a model. "Sookyung! It's been so long since we've met last time," she paused, continuing disdainfully, "and you must be Soojung," she hugged my mother then turned to me to pull me into her tight embrace.
"Call me Aunt Kim." She said shortly. "I've always wanted a daughter but, you know, this is what life does to us," she sighed, dramatically. I thought mum said she had 8 children, won't there be at least a girl among them?
As my curiousity grew more, I couldn't help but ask, "Don't you have any kids?" Mum smacked my arm and I gave her a what-the-hell look. "Oh! Let's go meet the boys inside, shall we?" The woman beamed.
When we entered inside, everything was like chaos, some were chasing each other and some were screaming frantically. I'm pretty sure I smelt something burnt coming from the kitchen. "I only left them for a minute and they've already made a mess." She sighed and rubbed her temples.
"BOYS!" Everyone stopped, as if time froze.
"Omma!" A brown haired boy with really white skin said sheepishly. The woman crossed her arm, a stern look on her face.
"Suho, I told you to watch over them while I greeted our guests," she looked around, looking for a certain person, "and where's D.O?"
Suddenly, a boy donning a black apron appeared from from -I think- the kitchen. He had big, doe-like eyes and lips shaped like a heart, overall, he looks innocent. And short. Another boy trailed behind, he looked like a head taller than me and what fascinated me was his dimples. To be honest, I have never seen dimples so deep.
"Did something burn in the kitchen?" Aunt Kim asked the two said boys.
"Lay did it!" The boy with big eyes cried out at the same time the dimpled boy said, "D.O told me to!" So, the short one is D.O and the other one is Lay.
"I'll talk about this later, you guys are lucky I have to rush to work now," she narrowed her eyes.
"Can one of you show Soojung the way to her bedroom, please? I need to catch the plane." My mom and Aunt Kim picked up their luggage and headed to the door, where the butler was holding the huge wooden panel open. "Be safe, don't cause any trouble, if something happens, call me up -"
"Dinner is at 7, bedtime at 9:30. Take our showers and go to school." Suho finished for her. "We know, don't worry. Have fun at the expo, don't worry about us!" He shoved his mum out the door, my mum already loading her bags into her car.
The huge door shut close so I tore my gaze away. I couldn't believe mum would leave me in the care of 12 boys my age! I'll end up babysitting!
