Enjolras - a once fiercely stoic revolution leader who, while surrounded by his carefree and fun-loving friends, came out of his shell and found happiness in what is instead of what could be - 'Enj' or 'E'

Grantaire - an often-drunk former cynic discovering that perhaps he was surrounded by happiness the whole time he was futilely seeking it - 'Taire' or 'R'

Combeferre - a soft-spoken yet opinionated and philosophical man who tends to be a voice of reason -- and often times a more rational leader -- among his friends - 'Ferre'

Courfeyrac - a smart and charismatic man who is friendly to everyone and often finds himself keeping his friends together when they're about to fall apart - 'Courf'

Jean Prouvaire - an artistic young man who is both brave and shy at the same time, and is viewed as the innocence of the group, reminding them that they are still boys at heart and bringing them together as one - 'Jehan'

Joly - an eccentric and jovial hypochondriac who, despite being nervous and uncomfortable almost all the time, is one of the happiest and most agreeable of the friends - 'Jolllly'

Feuilly - a generous and caring working man who self-taught himself everything he knows about book-smarts and politics/justice and is willing to take care of anyone who is an orphan like he was

Bahorel - a witty and sarcastic gentleman who is brave, talkative, always quite happy, has a knack for annoyance, and cares about few things deeply, but what he cares about, he really cares about.

Bossuet - an extremely unlucky yet radiantly happy man who seems fairly content with his misfortune and seems to always be consumed with laughter - 'Lesgles'

Marius - an awkward and caring man who has good intentions and doesn't quite know exactly how to show it but in the end usually makes the right decision

Montparnasse - a striking young man with a questionable past and new good intentions who is hanging out with a different crowd in the hopes of turning his life around - 'Parnasse'

Eponine - a sarcastically cynical, resourceful, and street-smart girl who has now gotten over her unrequited love and is moving on to the part of life that she never had a chance to begin before - 'Ep' or 'Ponine'

Cosette - an almost too perfect girl who let her dark past make her a better person and has another, more snarky and sarcastic side to her that becomes more and more prevalent as she makes friends and comes into her own

Musichetta - a caring and independent woman who is very maternal towards those she cares about but also knows how to take control of a situation when the need arises - 'Chetta'

Gavroche -  a confident, caring, and clever young boy who knows how to take care of himself but wouldn't give up his big, crazy, make-shift family for the world - 'Gav'
