It was a warm Friday night in Florida when Dinah decided to drag Camila to a party. She said something along the lines of "Chancho, you need to get out of this house, otherwise you'll have your whole room covered in pizza boxes."
Honestly, Camila was fine with just sitting around and thinking about different ways she could've saved her last relationship. Although her best friend and roommate kept telling her how Hailee was a toxic person and she would've cheated on her sooner or later. That didn't matter to Camila, though, she always blamed herself for literally everything that went wrong with her life. It was just the type of person she was.
"You need to get your shit together and fix this", Dinah said, pointing to Camila's face with a frown.
"I wouldn't have to fix anything, if you weren't forcing me to go to this stupid party." Camila told her best friend while putting her tightest red dress on.
If she was being forced to go to this party, she'd at least enjoy it for a bit. She thought she'd just flirt with some girls to boost her confidence and leave after a while, leaving Dinah an "I'm leaving, I don't feel good. Have fun," text.
After having Dinah be her personal makeup artist for half an hour, they were finally ready to leave.
"Damn Mila, you know, now you look like the type of girl I'd make out with if I were gay." Camila just rolled her eyes at her best friend and decided not to say anything back.
After taking the fifteen minute walk to Shawn's house (they decided it wasn't a good idea to drive if they wanted to drink), they were greeted by none other than the party host himself.
"Dinah Jane! Camila!" He exclaimed and wrapped his arms around both girls with the biggest grin they'd ever seen. Camila thought he must've held a tiny before party with a little too much alcohol. She didn't question it though.
"Aye, Shawn. Where's Ally?" The Polynesian asked the tall boy.
"Ally's just in the kitchen getting some drinks. She's with Normani, too. Go ahead, they're waiting for you." He answered and moved his attention to one of his other guy friends.
Camila and Dinah made their way to the kitchen and immediately spotted Ally with Normani and also some other girl that Camila didn't know.
"We're here and we're queer!" Dinah shouted just as the other girls turned their attention to the arriving pair. "Okay, I lied. Y'all know only Camila is but you get the point."
Camila just shook her head and sighed deeply. Why did her best friend have to embarrass her in front of everyone, Camila didn't know. She didn't mind most of the time, though.
With the corner of her eye, Camila spotted the mysterious black-haired girl giggle quietly. The girl was cute, she had to give her that. Honestly, she was gorgeous, but in the "I'm not trying at all, I didn't even brush my hair this morning" kind of way.
She was wearing denim shorts, a bomber jacket and just a black lace bra underneath. Camila suddenly felt hot. Did someone turn off the air conditioning or was it just Camila? She had no idea.
"Dinah! Stop embarrassing our little child like that." Ally said and wrapped her arm around the brunette.
"I can't help it, Smallz. It's my natural talent." The Polynesian answered with a big grin on her face.
"Anyway," Normani finally spoke, "This is Lauren, for those of you who don't know." She raised her eyebrow and winked at Camila. What was that all about?
Camila subtly waved at the girl and managed to breathe out a quiet "Hi."
"Hey Ally," Normani addressed the short girl, "Isn't that Bea? Come on y'all, we'll say hi." Before Camila could move, Normani linked her arms with both, Ally and Dinah and disappeared in the crowd.
She frowned, thinking her friends ditched her, but then she looked to her side and saw the green eyed girl looking at her with a soft smile on her lips. Suddenly something clicked in Camila's head and she knew exactly why her friends left her there.
"Are they always like that?" Lauren asked.
"I'd like to say no but it'd be a lie." Camila answered, shaking her head.
She looked at Lauren for a few moments before something else caught her attention. Or well, someone else.
"Shit!" Camila hissed, looking around for a good enough place to hide.
"Wait," Lauren said, with a slightly confused look, "What just happened?"
"Uh," Camila bit her bottom lip, "It's Hailee, my ex girlfriend."
"Oh, she's her-"
"How the hell is she here? This isn't happening. Dinah should've known, why didn't she tell me? I'm going to kill her."
"Camila, relax. Ignore her." Lauren said, placing both of her hand on top of Camila's shoulders.
Camila froze, she looked at Lauren and then back at Hailee. When her ex girlfriend glanced at her, a crazy idea popped into her head.
"Hey, Lauren. I, uh, I know this is probably really weird and all but honestly, I don't want her seeing me like this, so I was thinking, uh, would you mind if I, uh, you know, kissed you? Just so I can show her I don't need he-"
Suddenly Camila felt a pair of full lips on hers. It was like the time has stopped and Lauren and herself were the only people in the room.
They exchanged a few soft kisses, but if Camila thought Lauren's gentle kisses were amazing, she wasn't prepared for when the taller girl swiped her tongue across her bottom lip, asking for entrance.
Lauren's lips were a bit chapped but Camila didn't mind. She kissed her like her life depended on it. She placed one of her hands on the black haired girl's cheek and the other on her hips, pulling her closer. Camila didn't know she could be this close to someone, yet she felt like she was still too far away from Lauren.
Her hand on Lauren's hips exposed some of the other girl's skin and Camila decided not to waste any time and start rubbing small circles on it with her pointer finger. She could swear she heard a quiet moan escape the taller girl's mouth.
That only boosted her confidence, which made her bite on Lauren's bottom lip and release it with a pop after a few seconds.
Camila pulled away with a smug on her face, seeing the other girl still with her eyes closed.
She took a deep breath and waited for Lauren to open her eyes.
When she did, Lauren gave Camila a small smile and her gaze drifted back to Camila's lips.
Camila's instinct took over and she licked her lips. She was about to kiss her new favorite lips again, when something stopped her.
"Mila! Did you see Hai-" Normani appeared out of nowhere and froze when she saw the pair slightly flustered with their hair all ruffled up.
She looked at them for a few moments before speaking again, "I was gone for five minutes, y'all. What the hell happened here?"
Camila let out a quiet giggle and turned her attention to Lauren again, placing her hand on the taller girl's cheek and rubbing it softly with her thumb, "Well, guess who's finally over Hailee?"
And while she was looking into Lauren's eyes, she knew she didn't have to send Dinah a text because she sure as hell wasn't leaving the party early.
