My ears rang as I relived the sound of the explosion over and over again. The bomb burst through its iron cage and it filled the air with its malicious roar, reverberating through the air, cracking open the bones of the foundation as it destroyed everything it touched.

The bitter taste of copper coated my tongue as I gnawed at my lips, watching as the screen filled with smoke just as my angel pulled an unconscious Ace through the fridge door just seconds before the bomb went off.

I watched the scene play out repeatedly in disbelief.

My angel was a warrior.

When Alek handed me a tablet telling me there was something I needed to see...

...this was the last thing I could have ever imagined.

We really should stop underestimating our little fiancé.

I pushed my shaking digits through my hair, my fingers snagging in the knotted locks still riddled with particles of this morning's terror.

Fuck, had that only been this morning?

No wonder I was so goddamned tired.

I had no plans on taking over today, but Warrick was twitching with nerves to the point he was sick to his stomach and Phantoms fury was taking too much toll on our body, beating inanimate objects to shit as he couldn't rip apart any of the prisoners.

There were only two who made it out alive.

Not to mention he was scaring the shit out of everyone with his yelling and trigger-happy fingers.

I couldn't watch from the window of our soul anymore and forcefully pulled him from the front and took over.

That didn't go without repercussions, my body felt like it weight a thousand pounds, and I was fidgety as fuck. Every slight noise had me tense in anticipation of another attack and Phantom's rage was slipping through the cracks and bleeding into my veins.

It was taking everything within myself to remain seated in this damned chair. Not even the fancy upgrades and soft material of the fabric soothed my nerves.

Not with my angel lying unconscious in the bed next to me.

I gaze at her bruised body, her cute outfit from this morning replaced with the light blue gown decorated in white fluffy clouds. A quick glance at the digital clock displayed it was near midnight, and I let out a heavy sigh. I discarded the tablet onto the end table, having worn the battery down to four percent battery, and took her hand into mine. Her fingers were cold against mine and I lifted her hand to my lips, kissing those cold digits.
