This place was heavenly. The sky was blue with hardly any clouds, the sun was bright and shone rays of light through the most luscious leaves belonging to extremely tall trees. And on every patch of beautifully coloured patch of flowers were butterflies of every colour fluttering around and u could hear the sounds of birds chirping happily among the trees.
I stepped forward enjoying the view and wondered if the princess was as enthralled as I was but I looked down only to find her curled up in my arms fast asleep. She looked so peaceful despite all the madness that was taking place in our world, I wondered if she sensed what was going on or if she only knew the basics like when it was feeding time or when she pooped and was ready for her nappies to be changed. I smiled to myself as I remembered those times she got uncomfortable and started crying if her nappies weren't changed instantly.
My mind drifted to her mom, Queen Helen. She had always wanted a baby, she and her husband King Amar had been trying unsuccessfully for years and when she finally got pregnant the king had died leaving the queen to rule on her own and to raise their only child. The king was a very powerful and kind man who ruled his kingdom with love wisdom and devotion. All the people of Farousia loved and worshipped King Amar with every vein in their hearts.
One dreadful day Barnabas, the king's older brother whom was banished from the kingdom for attempting treason, emerged from the depts of the forest with an army of Hernans. Hernans were the most feared creatures in the kingdom. These creatures had human bodies but their heads were hideous. Their heads were large and dark green with fish-like scales, tiny ears, huge black eyes that seemed like deep, dark, empty pits and lips that resembled octopus legs which hid razor sharp teeth often used to tear into innocent human flesh.
Barnabas was jealous because before his father had died he has chosen his younger brother to rule the kingdom instead of him. He was furious and had held all that jealousy in his heart ever since.
That day Barnabas had demanded his brother to hand over his thrown and the kingdom but his brother had flatly refused stating that he would not give over his people to such an evil, wicked retch and he would stand by them until death.
"Very well my brother, we will not leave until I have the kingdom and your lovely wife in my bed." With that said he turned to army and said "kill anyone who dares to cross me and I want my dear brother's head on a golden platter!" The army of Hernans charged into the kingdom killing hundreds of soldiers and trampling innocent citizens including young, helpless children. Screams of fear soared throughout the kingdom, blood stained every inch of the walls and plastered the ground but the king and his soldiers were determined and wouldn't give up. By the time the war was finished Barnabas and what was left of his army had fled but the king had been wounded in battle and had to be put on his sick bed. The greatest healers in the kingdom had come to heal the king and they had tried everything they could but their magics and potions weren't enough and the king had died during one of his treatments. His last words to his wife were "My dearest Helen, please don't cry for me. Be strong. I believe you will rule even better than I have. Your love had been my motivation and strength for all these years and I am thankful that you have blessed me with your kindness, beauty and love. I may not be here with you in flesh but I will be here with u always in spirit, I am right here in your heart. I love you with all my heart and I will love you for eternity."The queen's heart was crumpled and she was so hurt that she couldn't even find the strength to utter the words he had longed to hear from her. She had kept those two words to herself until she was forced to end her grieving and tend to the kingdom. After almost two months later when the signs had begun to show that's when I had confronted her and she had revealed it to me. "Am pregnant."
