Hallways that go on for eternity; No matter what way you turn, you'll just find more emptiness. But still I continued to keep walking.

At last, the scenery changed. It was a door. Nothing too fancy, just an old, worn wooden door. However, that very door edged me closer, my curiosity to its peak.

Grabbing the brass doorknob, I slowly turned it, my heart racing like a stallion. I carefully pushed forward and light came pouring out. My arms reflexively shielded my face and I couldn't see a thing.

Then the light was gone.

I opened my eyes to find I was outside in a crowd people. Was that a dream? It felt so real.

A roar of murmurs and gasps erupts just a few feet away. I quickly pushed my way through the crowd.

I see a man, with bright blonde hair and rose red highlights, in the center of the commotion. A little boy next to him is sobbing and his arm is being held by the man as he smirks haughtily. Everyone around them is wide-eyed and holding their breath. One woman especially.

"Please give him back!" The woman pleads, trembling.

Without another thought I charge in. I cut between the man and boy, crouching down and holding the boy's wrists gently.

Smiling, I said, "What's wrong? You shouldn't cry, you'll make your momma sad." I pulled out a piece of candy from my pocket and handed it to him. "If you smile, you can keep that."

He wiped his tears and perks up. I then ruffled his hair. "Much better. Now go with your mom and keep smiling for her."

"Thank you, nice lady," he said sniffling back tears, kissing my cheek and running to his mom. She gave me an apologetic, yet thankful look as she moved out of the crowd.

The rest of the people began to disperse as well. But the shadow covering me told me I was not alone.

As I looked up, the bright blonde haired man smiled wickedly at me. "You have no idea what you've just done. But you will pay for your mistake."

"What were you going to do with that boy? Couldn't you see how scared he was?." It freaked me out how confident he was. And how everyone was so afraid of him.

With a shrug he threw his arms out as if gesturing to a crowd. "Haha, you have guts. To speak to me as if I'm one of you lowly humans." Once more he shrugged with closed eyes. "Oh well. Now for your punishment."

My eyes narrowed and I took a step back. "Who are you?"

He wiggled his finger. "It's a bit late to be asking that." After a moment of looking me over, he snapped his fingers and loudly spoke, "Aha. I've got the perfect thing for you."

Before I could make a move, he was in front of me, seizing my wrist. Gripping tightly, I could feel it start to burn. It was too late to get away, he finished whatever it was he was doing and returned to his original spot.

I looked at my left wrist where there was now some weird symbol tattooed on it. It was glowing red and smoke came off it, like I had just been branded. Then it stopped and faded to black.

My mouthed hung open and I uttered the words he wanted to hear. "What did you do?"

A hand slid over his mouth as he admired his work. "Like it? It's the first time I've used that one. Aren't you lucky?"
